That piece should have some knots which will make an interesting coffee table.
I never measured it with a tape (will do tonight) but by the stick I put next to it (marked the stick) then up next to my leg for a guess, I would say 27-30 inches is close.

Dead Center cut.
Yes, it should give us a nice grain cutting it that way.

Smokin, what are you making the table & end tables from?

Sorry meant to say, Redwood. It was still pretty wet, but after it dries a bit more, we should be able to finish sanding it and seal it. By the way for a big slab like this, the square pad floor sanders do a really nice job very quickly.Very nice skyline, what type of wood is it?

SmokinJ,
Nice table. Look forward to the pictures Zap. A little off topic but got roped into another school project last weekend where we made an outdoor eating area for the teachers.
This is one of the tables we came up with. I provided all the logs and supports but the slab was donated by a local tree service. 12' x ~42" x 3" .
The circumference is 75 which will give us a slab 23.87 inches wide, perfect for the area it's going in.I would want one over 30". How wide is it?
