Hey Billy, you should capture those bees! lol

mecreature, I also recall a couple times in June losing our corn! That is cold to lose the corn in June. It was probably around 5" both times it got froze out.

Dennis I thought about taking some of the honey comb after the bees leave. When I was a kid we used to get all out honey from a small bee keeper. He was a great guy and let us go in the shop and watch him process the honey. I wish I could remember how he did it.

I always stack while I split. I couldn't imagine having a huge pile to stack like that. It would look like too much work to me.

Glad to hear you're getting your work done, even if it is not as fast as you used to.

You will see a difference! A lot of our wood gets stacked for much longer than 2-3 years but as of late we are having some problems getting further ahead. Seems every year we are selling some or giving some away and the danged piles that are left just won't grow. I'll take inventory after we get this year's stacked to see what we have left.

Hey Dennis, offer still stands, 4 man crew with equip. Bet we can put up 8-10 cord in a weekend. Give us a fire to cook on, we'll camp on the back 40 & have fun doing it. A C

Amateur, the way things are going, next year we very well might take you up on that. I was sort of thinking about this while splitting wood. Maybe it would be great to have a weekend wood party?! Get a few guys from MI together (others very welcome too) to do some cutting, hauling and splitting. We could build a nice big fire if it is cold and even do some cook-out too. I'm sure we could furnish some great eating and drinking for all and everyone would have a great time. Shoot, we might even get some of the Indiana and Ohio guys. At least that is something for us to think about.

Pick a date Dennis, & I'll be there. We can sell tickets to the horizontal VS vertical splitting contest, & give away the milk crates as prizes.==c As long as I don't have to split horizontal that is. If need be, I can probably help with planning & supplies if you decide to go ahead with this. Let me know. A C

Sure wish I was closer. I would love to join that party!

Michigans stock is going up. I've got family in East Lansing I could use to visit. Make sure you guys publish the dates here.

look what you started backwoods your going to have an army equiped with chain saws and splitters. Jefferson how do you like your 2400? Im looking to get a 2000.

Well, we're definitely going to have to look closer at this one! Thanks guys! :)

I found a video of the 2400 on youtube titled the "thermo-neuclear wood reactor" or something like that and I would say the title was pretty much spot on. I just got it intalled a little while ago and have less than a dozen fires in it. It throws great heat! I had over eight hours burn times, when starting off an existing bed of coals and adding just three good splits, and that left a good size bed of red hot embers for a relight in the morning. I know I'll never get 40 hour burn like the BK guys, but I can get "thermo-neuclear wood reactor" for more than eight hours and that heats our 3k+ sq ft place just fine. On quality and craftsmanship I have no complaints. A friend who helped on the install remaked on the high quality of the welds, but I dont know anything about welding. A member here (FyreBug) works for SBI (Stove Builder International - who makes the Osburn products) and he was very helpful and honest. SBI builds stoves and inserts under multiple brand names and you can read about them at ...

My bottom line would be all good so far, but I am less than 12 burns into it.
