I hadn't used the stove for three weeks. I had my bedroom window open for over a month. But after being away 3 days camping, I came home yesterday to a very cool family room and office room. It rained last night and again today. Temp in those rooms was 63 and the humidity was 65. I lite the stove. Temp is now 76 F and the humidity is 53%, Ah! I'll wait until mid-June before I shut it down, do the major cleaning and plug the outlets. My past history is to burn off and on right to mid-June so this is no exception.
Anyone else still chasing that occasional chill and dampness?

Haven't had to since the last burn about 10 days ago. Still, I've seen it run in the 50's for daytime highs here even into late June, so I'm not taking it out just yet...

Got home from work today and the wife had the stove going. Kinda glad actually. Warm and cozy instead of cool and damp.

My pellet stove is just an auxiliary heater to my oil furnace. I haven't run my pellet stove for a month and my oil furnace for about three weeks. I don't heat anything unless it is colder than 60 F in the house. If it's more than 60 and I feel a chill, I put on a sweater!

I'm the opposite. I'd rather burn a $1.00 worth of pellets to avoid putting on the sweater or sweatshirt.

What does pride have to do with it? If you're cold, do something about it.

I had a small fire last night to take the chill off. The daytime high for my area was only 57 and when the sun went down it got a little chilly. That is okay though. My wife also liked the ambiance the fire light provided as we watched a movie.

Same here. Keep thinking about final shutdown but the wife thinks we should wait a little longer.

Wife called me today at work asking how to get the stove to light, she was cold.....oh well had an open bag of pellets to burn any ways....so let it burn

thought i had called it perfectly shutting down and finishing full year end cleaning and maintenance on may 20th.
but this last few days i've been wishing i had waited.

held out from burning oil last night.just watched movies with my hoodie on and covered up.
but 62 degrees in the living room this morning.
uncovered the registers and the cold air return and fired up the oil burner for one blast.

it's the low daytime temps that are the problem more than lows at night.

i'm still glad the cleaning is done though.

Heck, forecast is for upper 30's, low 40's tonight in upper NH (Pittsburgh area). I havnt burned for a few weeks now, but have half a bag sitting next to the stove and will do at least one more burn prior to final cleaning even if just to dry out the damp ash in the stove for easier cleaning.

Forecast for the fist week in June doesn't have the temps above 60f, night time temps high 30's and low 40's. Crazy!

That does it, I'm moving to New England.

That graphic claimed to document our coolest start to June since 2004, but I recall that 2009 was one of our coolest (and wettest) summers. I didn't even uncover the A/C unit until July. And then we proceeded to have our 4th coolest July on record. I don't see us beating that one.

We'll see...

Hello

Well here is the 5 Day Forecast for June from:

It's the new style of Hearth.com....you have to clik on the image to see the whole thing.
(Confession: that weather model I posted was my first image in the new style. Don't know if I can repeat it.)

Been workin' outside all day and can't get rid of this chill. 10 minutes from now I'll be warm. What good is a pellet stash if you ya don't burn 'em when your cold.
