Locust Borers... Eating away my Mulberry.Couldn't believe I could actually hear them chomping away.

Not too unusual.I can sometimes hear powderpost beetles munching away in green hickory,oak/honey locust/eastern red cedar/mulberry sapwood.Especially for a few days after its freshly cut in early Spring to June or so.They really like the hickory, its like filet mignon to them it seems.Havent cut much ash but what I seen its usually riddled with holes before too long also.

havn't ever noticed any post powder in my ash, to dry I think. They do really love the hickery.

I can actually hear something chomping away at my cords of hickory. In a few spots I can see the little buggers pushing sawdust out of the hole.

Is this bad?

I wouldn't worry too much........ a few small "ventilation" holes might help speed up seasoning.......
