I got a new Huskavarna 455. Kinda ruff to start. It seems to be starting on idle speed. Every saw I have ever owned was set up were you pull the trigger while holding the grip sensor and it locks the throttle for starting. Is this saw designed differently or is mine defective?

- Status
Pull the Blue Choke (pump primer bulb a few times 1st). Then pull till motor "Pops". Then push blue choke knob in. (DONT Touch the throttle!) This puts the saw at half throttle. Then pull again and it will start..
(Throughout the process do not touch throttle)
Pump primer
Pull out blue knob
Pull 1-2 times (motor pops)
Push in (Do not touch throttle)
Pull again 1-2 times till it starts.
Will start at half throttle, touch the throttle to bring to idle....
Its not a Stihl. Stihls you have to pull the Trigger. Husqvarnas you leave it alone

I've had one for around six years. I've cut around 40 full cord with it. No problems other than a couple of bolts coming loose. Starts everytime. I've never even changed the spark plug yet. I would recomend this saw for cutting
small to medium stuff. It would probably be be purfect for most people that burn 3 - 5 cord a year. I now burn 8 - 10
cord a year and want to get a little bigger saw.

That's for heating my house, shop 15' tall (has two large cold vehicles that go in each night in the winter), boiler shed, and all are hot water for family of five year round. We dont use any gas or electric for heat or water including summer time, so it's really not that much wood if you think about it.

It's kinda like asking me which car I want next, the Honda Accord or Toyota Camry. (not the V6 versions either....). They both do exactly what they are designed to do, are reliable, priced reasonably and every one of your neighbors, friends and cousins has one.
FWIW: The resale potential of the MS290 FarmBoss is unreal. Keep it looking pretty and you 'll be able to get back 80% of what you paid for it new.

Hundreds if not thousands of folks on eBay are lining up to take your place tho...
I wouldn't give $300 or more for a used MS290 either but that doesn't change the fact that they routinely sell for more than that in like new condition.

Before you buy the 290 310, 390 series, look @ an MS 261 pro. I know they're more, but you won't regret it. A C

Everyday is sale day when I walk in the Stihl dealership with cash to spend..... lol
Stihl does cut the dealers an amazing deal on those cases when they run that promo. I remember stuffing pallets of them into a storage garage out back. Double stacked, lol. Was nice to be able to give away cases almost year-round.

It is rare that I've ever been turned away when asking for something reasonable. Cash is king, and they are making money either way. I wonder what the mark-up is on a saw. Probably 30-40% for the dealer
The 026/260/261 is a Pro Saw. Not a homeowners model like the 029/290, 031/310, or 039/390.
Worth the extra money. Plus the resale value down the road. Pro Saws will always fetch top dollar. Even in Chittty shape.

Lighter, faster, more features, better built, pro grade saw. If you get a chance, try an 026 260 261 series saw & compare to the 290 just to say you did. The only advice I'll ever say is really good is to buy the saw that best suits you. A C
