DSCN0090.JPG Draged this bad boy out yesterday. Red oak, 19" at butt, 41 ft long. All the tractor could pull. It was about 1/2 mile drag. Its still wet inside after being down for about 10 years +/- I have it bucked up and started to split & pile. Hope to finish today.

Very nice! Is it still solid after 10 years? Looks like a dream to split!!

That is a beautiful log that should yield a nice load of splits. Let us know if you have any rot. As far as I can see it looks good

That is the kind I love. No limbs and straight, easy to split.

That indeed will make great firewood. The reason it was all the tractor could pull is the way you've hooked on to it. Had you cut that crooked part out and had the chain down it would drag much easier.

This was a really good find, I'm pleased with myself. It is good inside and very little punk on the outside. I had the gator when I found this so I cut it and went home to get the tractor. After starting to drag it out I could see that I should have cut it in half. I could have dragged two halves easier. Some day I will learn, but it was still fun.

Well Zap, as you well know this will take some time. With this heat wave we are having I'm hoping it will take less. Its split fine and stacked on pallets in a open field getting lots of sun and air. When the rains start coming I will cover and move closer to the boiler room. I can stack a couple of face cords in the boiler room on top of my storage tanks. I leave it there for about a week, what a difference. I like your saying. It keeps things cleaned up but it makes me mad when I spend the same gas & labor only to get something less than perrfect. I keep telling myself, its free, so what.
