Ryobi switch modification?

I put a double pole 30amp toggle switch on and took the pushbutton off. You still have to switch the unit on and off but it saves the tip of yur finger.

double pole means that there are four wires total 2 going into and 2 going out of the switch. The reason for this is to spread the current out.

This is an old thread, but my experience may help someone else. I used a 3 in. tee hinge, attached with screws to the back side of the electrical box with the stem of the tee extending over the push-button. Then I attached a small nylon cord to the outermost hole and small block of wood to the opposite end of the cord to serve as a foot pedal. Used the same cord/block arrangement on the hydraulic control lever (drilled a hole), now both hands are free to control the log and I can stand up while splitting.
