Could you all look at this link and let me know if you think this is accurately called hickory. I've cut and burned it before but only shagbark and this isn't that.

I will be picking this up tomorrow night on the way to Sam's (had to encompass something besides just the pickup because I have too much to process already and this is a little bit of a drive).

Thanks everyone

David

I could believe it...looks like possibly pignut. Hard to say with certainty from the pictures.

Thanks for the feedback. I thought it was similar to the pictures I've seen as well but wanted at least a second opinion. I will be picking it up either way just wanting to verify. I will get some leaves and closer bark pictures once I pick it up.

If you lived up here there would be one easy way to tell for sure if that is hickory... When you get there it is already gone!

Looks to be hickory to me....If its not it sure looks to be hardwood at the very least.

Yeah scrounging isn't too hard here with not too many people heating with wood. I have a guy 0.7 miles down the road with 20+ acres that will let me take all the standing dead I can handle, but I'm picking this up because it's hickory. It's not too easy to find here really.

If he says its hickory and it looks like hickory chances are its hickory! ;)

Take it even if it is not hickory. It is firewood at the right price.

I'm gonna say it looks alot like pignut bark, so it's probably hickory. Hell it's already bucked into nice lengths, as long as it wasn't a willow I'd be taking it!

I'll cut or bring home anything but Ailanthus.

smell it ... should be dead giveaway , if Hickory or not
