Nice wood. Looks good to get cherry and ash in the wood pile. Be carefull pulling the vine runners off the trees. If its 3 leaf watch out. I have alot of split cherry stacked in the shed and gives off a good smell.

That's a great scrounge, I'd handle it with gloves, particularly if that's poison ivy.

Small scrounges are great, lot of people just pass them by. For me, they all add up :)

Nice score, Mecreature! Good stuff, to boot! Get 'er c/s/s so it can start seasoning!

Definitely a good score. Check out those clinging vines. Some folks it bothers and some it doesn't. I have taken an axe and just shaved the vines off the tree before. It doesn't take long, especially on those straight trunks. All in all, some good firewood there.

Dont matter to me whether its 2 arm loads worth or 2 p/u loads. If I'm going past it & am not in hurry to go to work or something else urgent,I'll stop & load it up whenever its possible. It all adds up like you said.

Just about full in backyard now,I could shoehorn in maybe a wheelbarrow or two more after rearranging some stuff. But gonna wait until early winter to see how much of my dry stuff has been burned before bringing any more home.

Not that small of a scrounge.
That'll make a nice sized stack of splits :)

Looks to be dry there, how's the water level?

It is raining as I type this and it rained good the other night. Over all we are way down for the year but catching up.

I am thinking 2 pick up loads for this. I LOVE the easy pickins.
I will absolutely wear gloves and long sleeves to get this. wash down with tecknu after I am finished.

I have about 3 cord of cherry and 1 cord of ash mixed in the stacks for this year. with a ton of mulberry. should be a good year for burning. I cant wait.

My view on the smaller stuff: less splitting, easier to handle and it all burns and makes heat regardless of whether it is 6 inches in diameter or 36 inches in diameter.

yep perfect size stuff..i actually prefer it that way.....that cherry will bust like butter....i like it when u bust it one time and stack it

I do like cherry.
I just noticed a trunk in the neighbors yard down the road, just laying there.
maybe 15 ft long, bout 24 inches round. I will have to check that out too.

I has been cooling down recently but I really like waking on snow when working on this stuff.

Heck yeah that's a great size to handle and make some nice splits from! Sometimes you can grab an end with gloves obviously and yank the whole thing off, sometimes not. Nice score!

Just curious, what's the story behind it-is that a public pond or private? How'd you happen upon it?

Nice scrounge... I like the smaller stuff when scrounging as well...seems most everyone does if you go by whats left behind around here...ha

That's a decent score- I would rate it a medium-to-large catch though. Sure do like the way cherry burns, and ash.. well, 'nuff said. Good score!

As read on this forum before " like money in the bank"
I wouldn't leave a 100 dollar bill lay next to a pond, unless my account was full!
