This all I have so far. Its about 12 cord. Last winter I burned about 5.
My goal is to have at least 3 years on hand but last winter was real mild(and my first year burning) so I
don't know what I really need. Well actually I do know ..... more, lots more ....want to fill the whole yard up....never want to stop c/s/s

You guys know what I mean....don't ya?.... I'm not alone, am I?

If you had posted that anywhere else, they would say that you need help, professional help. But here, you are among friends. I know I spent a few hours today deciding where I was going to c/s/s about 300 linier feet of logs that my neighbor donated to my cause :p

Last year was very warm indeed. I say keep going until you reach your goal. And when you reach your goal, if you still have room, keep going.

You're way behind - get back to work;)

New word that should be accepted for common usage: "thatsalottawood". It is NOT hoarding ... It is PROVIDING. Looks like you are a good way toward your goal, Mike.

It wasn't long ago that I was sitting on around 14 cord saying the exact same thing, being I burn approximately 7 cord a year to heat the house, and I wanted to get 3 years ahead. Now, I'm sitting on around 23 cord and I'm STILL SAYING THE SAME DAMM THING! IT'S AN ADDICTION!! That's why we're all on this site!! So keep going, and you got some nice looking stacks BTW!

Agree, keep going! Nice work!

I KNEW IT! I AM WAY BEHIND!
What really suck is I broke the wedge off my splitter and the welder hasn't fixed it yet.
The last pic shows the empty spot where the splitter fits in the out feed table.
I still have about a cord laying around.
After that I'll back out there getting more.

It is PROVIDING. Mike.

Thats what I keep tellin my self.

In fact this mornin my wife said "boy you can allready feel the change in the temps fall is slipping in"
and my response "SEE WE NEED MORE WOOD"

Thats what I'm afraid of, considering I have the OCD gene. I have to keep reminding myself that this is still my first year. In fact 4 days from now I joined this forum and 2 days later I bought a gasifier and
a year later I have 12 cord, 2 mauls, 4 wedges, a fiskers 27, a Timberwolf splitter, and a bunch of other stuff. Also I have been on a mission for a 1000 gallon water tank! Designing radiant heat and solar power as well as looking to build or buy a wood gas generator to run my house and even my trucks. What the heck is goin on!

Oh and thanks for the compliment on the stacks:)

You wouldn't ask a financial advisor if you need more money. This is money in the bank. More is always better.

Slottawood. Definitely needs to be implemented in our vernacular on this website.

Great! Thanks for reminding me I don't have enough money in the bank either.;hm
To bad money didn't grow on trees! We all would be doin good!;)

I set a level that was "unrealistic" originally. Some number whereby I would not need wood for a decade. The closer that number came to be, the more I found reason to justify surpassing it. Mainly, I figure I could always sell some. The thought of selling csss (cut, split, stacked, seasoned) wood is another story when your really considering it though. Even at 200/cord, I just feel I would be selling myself short. Now I look at is as "going green" by harvesting downed trees that would otherwise rot. Next year I will figure out another excuse.

"IT'S AN ADDICTION!!"
Nope. One word......Lifestyle. Feel better?

Whew! Lifestyle, thats it, thats the rational I needed.
Now I feel much better. Thank you.

You are not alone we are all sick here. This is going to be my third year burning and I have three years worth of wood and made the mistake of saying on this web site the other day that I was done looking for wood until next summer, well I saw the light I have unlimited stacking areas on my property, I just need some free wood. I like how you covered your wood, Im still trying to find the most economical way to cover mine, hate tarps with a passion.

Definitely the best way to look at this is that it is better than money in the bank. Energy prices just keep going up and up but interest on money in the bank hasn't kept pace for sure. That is why I look at my wood piles as prime dollars and look at my CD's as, "What do I have this money in the bank for?" The wood pays much better dividends.

Very simple formula:

(Need more wood + If you have room for more, = you need more) . ;)

This isn't a forum, it's a support group!

(I scrounged a cord today after saying last week that I was done for the season) :)

I'm never done, I may take a break in the heat of the summer, but I start to miss my saws after a few weeks. I hear them calling to me from time to time. It's really nice to know I'm not alone. A C

Thank you Danno, I just found my answer to "Why do you need more wood? Look at how much you have already" BTW, it's only 3 cords and I burn 1/yr.

The only problem i see is that unsplit wood next to your stacks. Get after it!

My new neighbors think I've gone off the deep end...and that all my wood is going to rot before I can burn it. They would probably send in men in white coats if they could see the 7-8 cord in my barn (they can only see the 12 cord in the yard).
