I don think i have heard it put quite that way , but there again if an auger motor is going to go out i guess thats the way it would happen.

Sorry all, for the improper words..I guess it is a new england saying. Ok well all seems good not...But I noticed over last few recent uses. it took forever for it to run.
I should 1st state that I have a pelletmaster 3000 titan bottom fed stove
Today I loaded it up and started it up and the flame(s) just died out..I watched and noticed that the clinker ring wasnt turning at all, and I sure didnt heard the usual sounds.
So after it cooled enough, I whacked it with my 24 oz framing hammer and cold chisel.....just kidding..lol
I wiggled the burn pot back and forth and then turned it on and finally the clinker ring stated to move and it started to feed.
Now all is well burnin great..But it gave me alil scare...
Is there anything to watch for(signs) of a dying auger motor?

noise is the most common sign.... If this is your first fire since last year did you do any preventive maintenance at the end of last season?
This is my 5th fire this year and I had it professionally cleaned and lubed 2 months ago.At the end of last season I just cleaned it out myself.didnt realize that I should do it at end of season instead of before new season
No noise....just stopped turning....worked fine yesterday!

You can get a replacement motor at Graingers for about $40.00 wholesale.
It takes about 15 min to change it out.
