It's been a few years now, and this seems like a good time to check in and see how other folks are doing with their Lopi Leyden.
Don't want to bias things, but for us it's been a pretty good performer.

Anyone else using the Lopi? Or other top-loaders?
And what would you change - if anything?

Thanks, Roger (scotty)

Not many on here have the Leyden other than you. I think I've seen one other active forum member that owns one. There are 16 reviews posted in the review section of the site, though.

Hello

How old is your Leyden?

I am in the process of rebuilding a Lopi Pioneer PS (Heritage Bay PS). It has the older control panel with the 2 knobs for feed rate and fan speed.
It was sitting on an outside back porch for a while. The hopper lid handle had water in it. There were some soggy muchy pellets in the hopper too!

On the back the tag says:
The serial # is 2101-217326

Report No 476-1407-00
May 1997

The date of manufacturer was May 1997! ! !

That would make it 15 years old.
I am amazed it is that old! The only difference on a new one is the control panel!

All the components seem to work. The combustion fan is vibrating some and the fan blades hit the plenum when starting up. What do you think?

We bought a Leyden this summer. I'm interested to see how it does this winter!

Don, the Lopi is a Wood stove.

Its a very beautiful stove... My buddy has a Liberty (not the same, but still a very nice stove) and its a beautiful stove.More less a E/W burner.

The Leyden seems to read pretty good... Any pics of your install?

Yes, My point is that Lopi has been making the same stoves for many years!

The Leyden just came out about 6 years ago. With the right flue setup it seems to work pretty well. Some folks love em and others have reported it has the same issues of most downdrafts in that it can be a be a bit touchy to operate.

I have one and it works very well for me. I only use it in shoulder seasons or when it is really cold. It is brown enamal and looks great in my living room. I clean the glass about once a week. I load the wood from the front most of the time. The great thing too, its made in USA
