My dog saw it and instantly grew a thumb and picked up a wrench.

Congrats!!!

You know you've seen and used a lot of stoves when you open up the door on the 30 for the first time and think "Huh, I thought it would be bigger..."

After reading so much about the stove I expected this gigantic, cavernous pit that whole trees can be thrown in with enough room for a small child. That being said, I threw in a few of the good size slabs I have and they fit just fine. So, obviously, it's large.

Here's yer shirt.

Thanks!

The 30 is already working. Yesterday the high temp was 72. Today, 82.

Do the outdoor burn-in and delay Fall by a week.

Forget whether the shirt fits... I hope the stove fits your needs.
I'm not worried about that, really. It is completely over-sized for my needs, so 10 hours of heat should be doable.

I went from 2010 with burn times of 5-6, 5-6, 3-4 to 2012 of 10-14, 10, 8-10.

Theres nothing like getting a new stove to play with , congrats and have fun!

Yep, and the soot eater arrived today.

Also, the Vigilant is being picked up tomorrow, the Intrepid is being sand blasted, and pretty soon I will only have three stoves inside the house... opposed to the five that are currently hanging around here.

I have seriously considered a 30 for the shop to replace the 5+ cuft home built wood eating monster in there currently. I wonder if it would do the job.

Nah. They don't heat very well Jags. I just have a bunch of IDs here to trick BrowningBar into buy that stove.

My work here is done.

Damnit... I'm always the sucker.

Actually it was an honest question. My downfall in the shop is the TONS of steel, the 4ft cement walls, cement floor...Its a biotch to get that sucker up to temp if it has been zero out for a couple of days.

How long can the home made monster burn with one feeding?

The guy that runs a forge next to me has a giant stove dead center of his workshop that is probably the same size as yours. It heats, but it also eats.

That is EXACTLY the reason for the consideration of the 30. I have NO doubt that the 30 will nibble wood compared to what I am running now. The hungry bastage. The only advantage to the big beast is its ability to bring the space up to temp fairly quickly.

Right, but, if the 30 can burn overnight, you might not have to burn out as much cold every day.

One advantage a 30 would have in that shop would be a blower. Roll it up to seven or eight hundred with the blower going and you will be warm while you are working. The hell with how cold all of that steel stock is.

Well unless you, like, want to actually pick up a piece of it with bare hands. !!!

One reason I put the pellet stove in the basement. It would take it a day or more to warm those walls, but it has my bench area warm in an hour.

Oh - no way do I envision keeping it lit 24/7. Heck, a week can go by in the winter and I will never enter the shop. Although this year will be the year of the still. I always try to have a winter project to build. This sounds as useful as anything does.
