Feeling the Heat

'Tis the season, looking for input.

Finished last year with a bit over a ton left for this year. (@35 bags MWP and 18 bags of Blazers)

Looking to add two ton to the stash now. (Maybe more shoulder/big box later) Looking for a higher end low ash pellet this year. I have four "local" choices all around the same price/ton. (@ $20/ton spread) They are: Vermont softies, Barefoot, PWI, and Turman.

Anyone recommend one over the other? I tried a few bags of each last year and liked them all. The Vermonts were the hottest in my stove, however, they also burned the fastest due to the small pellet size. (least hours per bag)

Not trying to stir a hornet's nest, just looking for experienced input.

Thanks

Have burned Vermonts, PWI and Turmans.
Liked them all. Out of the three, I liked the PWI based on a cost vs. heat comparison.
Next would be Turmans and Vermonts. They had a "little" more heat but not enough to warrant the higher cost.
Just my $0.02.

Barefoot makes a longer pellet, if that's what you're after.

I'm a fan of softwoods, so I'd go with the Vermonts, but as others have noted, all of these pellets are reviewed well here.

Turmans burned very well for me can't say anything about the others, never used em.

Well, I decided to go with the closest local place so the first ton of Barefoots are now in the shed with the second ton reserved for when I have time to pick them up. The "ole girl" is starting to creak and moan more with a full ton in the bed and at 8mpg X $4 per gallon multiple long trips are less cost effective. (should have kept my '89 3/4 ton) Shed illumination is lackluster at best in the pic, but it is the back storage room.
