Don't you just love this time of year, when the splits turn from tan to grey, then black?

Very nice stacks, BTW. Jealous

Nice pics - thanks.

It was dry here, too. (I'm just East of Maine.) The wood I cut this spring for winter 2013-2014 could be ready for this winter.
But it will wait. I've got enough from last year for this coming winter.

I like the covers you put on most of the piles. It may make me consider.... No. I won't. But I may build another little shed
out of pallets for a cord of softwood, so it doesn't rot on me like last year's did when I left it out in the open!

Happy burning!

hey nice stacks,,, what kind of wood do you have there? Nevermind just read your sig,,,, good stuff.

Looks good WoodButcher, what types of wood do you have in those stacks.
zap

A total mix this year. The single row stack is a mix of Spruce, Red Maple, Sugar Maple, Sweet Gum, Cherry and Ash.
Th big stack has a 1/2 row of 5 year old hickory (Pignut and Shagbark) The rest is Cherry, Red Maple, Sugar Maple, Ash, Sweet Gum, White Oak, Red Oak and Elm.

I took down a couple really straight Ash in the early spring which makes up a good portion of the front row.
At My BIL's house we have 3 good sized ShagBark trunks to drag out of the woods before the snow hits.

Nice stacks
Wood racks are nice too, like the top cover. Treated wood on the bottom?

A good mix of wood for the winter.
The hickory is going to add to the long burning , high BTU wood for next year.

Good work Woodbutcher! Those are a dream to buck up without all the branches.

I never get tired of looking at the woodstacks and woodsheds. Great looking stash there, WB. That shagbark would be gettin some special treatment to my outdoor 'kitchen' in the keyhole firepit. That hickory makes for some great cooking wood!

Good lookin' collection, WB. What kind of a laser-beam was used to align the splits so nice? 'SlottaBTU's there.

Thats what I was thinking too. I try but never get them that perfect.
