didn't know where to ask this Q:

Ok to dry my naptha rags on top of the wood stove? How many at a time would be safe?

A vent free woodburner? now that'd be something.

I'm planning on selling my home next year. I'm considering pulling my homesaver SS liner out of the chimney and taking it with me. Is this going too far?

Maybe, but if I ever move that Morso 3450 is coming with me, as would the insert if I knew it would fit into any exsiting fireplace in a new home. I'd probably leave the liner though to give the new home owners a head start on getting an insert of their own.

Hey, I just bought a log splitter with a 3.5" ram and a 5.5hp briggs and its rated at 34 tons. ;-P
Although it still can't go thru my favorite kind of firewood......elm that is. (that one is for RS).

I'm staying at my folks house this weekend, they're out of town. Noticed Dad has a Vogelzang box stove in the basement vented with single wall black pipe, no thimble, vented straight into the chimney. Is this a safe unit to burn? (heehheeeeheeee!). Happy weekend all,
B

My Daughter in law stole all my super cedars, used all the fatwood to start the dud wood, my wife will be home alone this weekend, and wants to use the stove, Is it ok to leave a can of lighter fluid, next to the ACS with directions(for BB) ie spray on wood 60 times, on the hearth next to the wood that is there to dry, this is safe right? and i told her to load it with the pine warren chucked on my shin! (Its ok now i get off the crutches maybe jan or feb!) also remember to open them there air knobs till they come all the way off the doors, i think this is ok right elk!

Sounds Good to me, go for it.

Wow! This vogelzang really puts out the heat! I've got her stuffed to the gills with oak, corn and some pellets, even a few bricks with the air full open, warming up some brake fluid in plastic bottles on top for tonight's car job. Wish I could find some coal. Might have to add a few can of oil on top too, sure gets cold in the garage while working. Funny thing is, I really am house sitting the folks house and dad really does have this stove in the basement (Y2K purchase). Scares the beegeebers out of me.

Disclaimer: The above posts are in fun and should not be attempted by non-professional stove stunt individuals. This forum is not responsible for attempting any of the above antics without contacting Elk first, burn stuff at your own risk. Is Jackass 2 out on dvd yet? Humm, now there's an idea.

well, elki spoke to my wife in february, they spoke about the top down method, overnight burns, and how to successfully dry out my wood. well let me tell ya. when i came home from a 3 week hitch on the water .she pulled the top down method, the fire in the box was almost out of control.it's been burning for 3 days and my wood is all dried out. now on a more serious note . he told her we need to make a building to store our wood and he sends her this crazy idea. it took me all summer to build and i'm still not finished yet. so close though
thanks elki u are the man . oh and the herniated disc's in my neck are almost all better.
here are some pic's

Wife wants me to do the familly room this weekend I got to work on my plow truck 1992 GMC 2/4 ton 4x4. It races like no tommorrow I mean I can go 40 mph
and not touch the gas > I think I have it figured it must be the throttle body sensor If that does not work I will break thee seal and adjust the idle screw Plus some other things that need attention The shed is done for now but could use a coat of stain for protection and shelves built in[/quote]

Hello Elkimmeg,

I have learned a great deal from your posts on this forum. I would like to return the favor, and offer you some advice. Your engine has a vacuum leak. I have seen the throttle body base gasket fail many times. You should be able to buy the gasket for about 10 dollars. Good luck. :)

thanks adrpga............thanks elk, alot of hard work there boy whewwww. and some ..well not a great deal of beer but some consumption none the less. i just picked up an older stove needs some tlc..well maybe a great deal of T.L.C. but thats the next project. not sure what kind it is but when i get it cleaned up i'll post some pics.
aprpga, hey neighbor, i got a guys number from eaton town he has an excavating co. or machinery anyway he said he has a whole lot of wood in the back yard and i could have it . ,he even said he'd load it up with his machine .real nice guy from argentina i believe. i was cuttin up some white oaks that some tree guys dropped across the street it was like 90 degrees out and this guy walks over with an ice cold bud. we get to talking and he tells me about the wood in his backyard. if your available when i get off around nov. 15th i'll pick you up on the way thru and if u can tell the difference of what wood is what, we'll load up my truck and car trailer and split it up. but that's up to you. otherwise i got most of my wood from work they were oak pilings untreated that were cut off from a dock rebuild. there are only a few left that i found way in the back and i hope to grab them up before i leave. my brother in law does tree service in the east windsor area and i can fill up my truck all day when he drops trees but then you have to wait for it to dry. well let me know what ya think and we'll talk soon.
john
p.s. i'm not real user friendly with jersey streets due to my job i 'm not home alot. so i'll need some good directions. although my sister in law lived across from the race track i think it was ann st. i know how to get there. : ) also i have been to centre state a gazillion times with my 10 yr old daughter who they know by name.

If you put a couple of 2x4s in the bed rails you could get a nother 10or12 logs on the truck..You'll probably need a new bumper when you'r done though.
