I am new to posting on this forum, but I have been reading here off and on for about a year as I mulled my purchase. I am a big fan of the encyclopdia that a good forum becomes, and this is no exception. I bought the Osburn 2000 insert after much research, and was so glad I spent so much time here first. The dealer initially told me it was to much stove for my 1600 sq ft ranch, and tried to offer me an Osburn 1600 but I knew better and I really wanted the 2.3 cft firebox. I was able to make an informed, well thought out, and coherent case for why I didnt want the smaller firebox on the 1600. I was buying what I wanted regardles of his opinion, although he was knowledgeable and courteous and I am glad I choose his store as I am happy with the deal. Keep up the good work educating us newbies, hopefully soon I can contribute.

Welcome to the forum, and welcome the Osburn insert owning crew. I am very happy with my unit. When you get a chance include your location, and put your new insert in your signature.

How's your wood supply? Is this your first woodburning appliance? You're going to have a fun winter playing around with your new insert.

I just bought the 2000 insert as well and have had a couple break in fires and can tell an over night burn will be easy to achieve. Welcome to the Hearth and include pics of your set up, this site loves pics.

These guys have an unlimited supply of knowledge....and opinions;).....they are the best. One important thing I picked up from here is wood supply.....gotta get ahead, and make sure it's seasoned....a Moisture Meter will become your best friend...second to a good saw and splitter

Yes, its my first appliance, Ive been in my house one full winter and just the very end of another. Currently there is an old sears fireplace heater and glass doors, so we have considered all of our burning up to now "for fun" as there is limited value in the heat weve been getting. My wood supply is low, down to about 1/2 cord of Red Oak from last year, I am currently looking to load up, and wont talk to anyone whos wood I cant see first. Just about finished a new rack, ready to hold about 3 cords between 2 racks, and will get started on another as a seasoning area soon. I am excited to burn this year without needing a conveour belt full of wood feeding it minute by minute.

Thanks Beer Belly. Moisture meter already in hand, actually bought it after Irene rolled thought last year and left a big wet kiss on my carpet, didnt realize at the time it would also come in handy for this.

Thanks etiger. Actually your posts about the 2000 helped I was making up my mind about the purchase. It just seemed like the best value out there for its price, most of the other ones I considered were $1000 - $1500 more. I also chose the nickle trim (actually my wife did of course.) Pics to come after install.

Enjoy the heat this winter... and the ongoing wetness that we have dealt with for the last two days and for the next two days. It's like a freakin' rain forest around here this week.

Lol, you're gonna love your insert. For 10 years I fed a hungry open fireplace and got little heat in return. Last winter was our first with our Osburn 2200 and it was like trading in a Model T for a Corvette! It actually heats my house without gobbling wood like a hungry dog.

Be sure to post some pictures!

Thanks BrowningBar, nice to hear from someone local. Any recomendations on local Firewood, my supply is pretty low, looks like ill need to buy most of mine this season

Likely not enough to heat your home with, but the folks along Meadowbrook and W. Monument often have a lot of downed wood after good storms, and occasional trees taken down. Since there are so few serious burners in that area (lots of condos and houses without FP's), there's not too much competition on the free wood.

Make sure folks at work know you're on the hunt. I get so many people asking me to take wood out of their properties that I can barely keep up. I've got 7 cords stacked in the last 9 months, and I didn't buy any of it. Likely only 1 cord of that came from my own property.

Unfortunately you are too far south for me to offer any contacts that would service your area. The closest I know that might have reasonably dry wood would be on 611 just north of Edison Furlong Road right before you get onto the Doylestown Bypass. They have monstrous piles of wood sitting out year round. It wouldn't be as good as stacked, but at least you know it wasn't freshly cut.

Yeah I felt with all the good reviews SBI has gotten on this site and the size and price of the 2000 it was a no brainer for me. My wife also picked out the nickle trim and the color mid night brown, I was fine with what she picked because I just wanted the stove, plus it was the only way she would let me buy two inserts in two years lol. Who did you end up buying from? Good luck and I cant wait to see the pics.
