Well, being a guy that works in a school with a wife who teaches at a college, we have summers off to do family stuff.

This was the summer of beer. Any chance we got on our travels I stopped at microbrewery restaurants and got a sampler with my meal. I counted 70 different microbrews, most of them just little 3-5 ounce samples. Then add to that the MANY other beers i sampled from the store and friends, etc. I can come up with easily over 100 beers.

So, now that summer is winding down, how will you remember this summer?

The summer of heat, drought, beer & Honey Locust.Got it coming outta my ears almost.Dropped 10 lbs in 3 weeks w/o even trying.Didnt gain any of it back (so far) no matter what I ate & drank. Finally cooled off in mid August (even though its 95 here right now w/low humidity).Perfect weather for State Fair last month, not once did it get over 90 degrees, most days in upper 70's,2nd highest attendance after all time record in 2009.

So what was the best one you tried?
I can't really say. I liked MOST of them. It really depends on what the beer is for. If it's for drinking large quantities of, then I'm gonna pick something differently than what I might choose to go with a steak, or a pizza, etc.

Really, though, this might be conceited, but one that I just couldn't get enough of was my homebrew. Liked it so much that I've asked for the ingredients for my birthday so I might make another batch. It was American Wheat by True Brew. That stuff turned out amazing. I wrote down the little tricks I did when brewing it, so hopefully I can duplicate!

A nasty summer. Actually a nasty year with the wife and I spending too much of our savings on hospital bills. Then there is the heat. Not the hottest summer I can recall but really nasty. With all, we are looking forward to a really nice fall.

Dennis, Fall begins the cleansing of nature that Winter completes. May you and your wife be cleansed of the ill health that has been burdening you of late with the coming of the cool, crisp, and refreshing weather.

The summer of swimming . . . got plenty of good use out of the pool this year . . . all closed up now though. Should be opening the hot tub in a few weeks.

Uh . . . we don't usually wear anything in the hot tub Danno . . . but for you I would make an exception. ;) :)

We visited a great North Cascades brewery last weekend. They make and sell a great set of brews. I had the Porter, my wife had a delicious Wit beer (with a hint of coriander) and my son's had some Amber Lushus with a great hint of maple.

Man, that all sounds good. It was hot today, so the Wit with a little coriander sounds extra nice. Blue moon will have to do!
