Local tree service company unloaded a dump truck + trailer of cherry, oak, and ash for $150.

Really nice guy, we started talking and the owner offered me another load this size of red oak + pay if work a Saturday with him.

Can't beat it! Gives me the chance to get out of house and earn some extra cash + good firewood. Sounds like a promising relationship to me :)

Great score Chad101. The wood for $150 and the job.

Wish I could get that delivered for that price.. Very Nice!

only woodburners get excited about paying 150 bucks to get a buttload of work delivered.

Sweet Load. Nice manageable pieces.

Looks like you still got a lot of work behind that pile.

sounds like the beginning of a beautiful relationship

Dude, you just got hooked UP! This could turn into a valuable catch, both for the wood you'll get and also for the experience you'll gain working with the tree guy.

Wow, that is a lot of wood. Nice score!

Good deal . . . on the price and quantity of the wood . . . and a future job/wood supply.

Nice! Did he say how much wood he thought that would stack out to?

You landed a serious score.
Now you've hooked another one.
Gonna be a fun Fall & some big stacks of wood if you keep fishing that location. :)

Did you have out a sign "WILL WORK FOR WOOD" or some other secret bait ? LOL :)

$150 for that much wood, you couldn't cut & haul that much "free wood" for that money.
You're lucky & good!

Now get that bucked up & off the nice green grass. Time to mow soon. LOL ;) :)

Scotty nailed it! The experience along with the wood just turns this into one great deal.

nice score -

looks like about 2 cords ??

I'm thinking it's close to 3 cords. I was anxious to fire up the 039 and 391 today. By the time I got home it was almost 8 o-clock; I don't want to upset the neighbors so cutting can wait another day.

I found this guy through craigslist. We just hit it off really well. I agree the experience is invaluable by itself. I'm really looking forward to this weekend and many more!!

I agree it is good policy to not want to upset the neighbors. It can be very unpleasant when neighbors become upset with each other.

I've done some work for a tree service. I'm taking a year off from bringing home wood (to make space). I have given wood to friends and I did learn a lot. I would advise you to be careful though.

After a while you'll find yourself getting a little more finicky as to what wood you take. I got paid and got the wood also.

I think it's a good deal, I figure my free wood round trip not counting my time and wear and tear on truck and saws cost me about 50 dollars a cord.

Well first load is cut up and ready for splitting.

The tree guy just dropped off a load of red oak!!! These rounds are FREAKING HUGE!!! :)

The pictures do little justice; I'm 6',3" and the round round standing on end comes up to my shoulders (@ 5') .

Way to get hooked up to a wood supply that delivers. The local tree service around here delivers me loads of 5-8 face cords of managable size logs for $100 a load. I sell some wood and am css for my own use. The wood I sell makes me some extra cash and I get my wood for free that way, including my time for labor.

Nice score, I have a big saw looking for some big wood like that.
