So far I have seen only 2 winter predictions for this coming winter. The first said we will have a winter even more milder than last and the second said get ready for the worst winter in 50yrs. That of course is for the WNY area. Anyone hear anything else????

I don't think this will be a big winter this year but certainly colder than last year. Probably a bit more snow too.

I can live with that map.

well, I hadn't really looked at any info on the upcoming winter. I was assuming it would be colder and snowier than last year. I only used 2/3 of my usual wood supply last winter due to the unusual warm temps, so this year has got to be getting back somewhat normal in the northest.

Might be worth checking with Puxatanny Phil and Wiarton Willie, they can't be any less accurate as the PROFESSIONAL METEOROLRIGISTS.........!

This says cold where it was hot this summer, but Alaska looks warmer. We'll see. Personally I think we are over-due for a cold winter. I'm stocked and ready. The northern Atlantic is very warm and the Pacific is quite cold. Time will tell but sooner or later we are due for a cold winter. As bad as Europe was as cold as we were warm this past winter, it wouldn't surprise me if it swaps.

Hardly went through enough gas in the snow blower last winter to empty the tank. I'm ready for whatever comes. My hope is that there are no major ice storms and that it's cold enough that I can ice fish. Last year was the first in my life that there wasn't enough ice for me to get out at least a few times. I'll take 3 feet of snow or below average temps, but again, hope we can avoid major ice build up

Its actually looking a lot like the 04-05 winter which wasnt bad for most of the country, the exception for cold and snowy was the northeast, mostly new england and upstate new york.

I predict snow , wind & below zero temps here.
Hope I'm wrong.

Mother nature here is giving us signs of an early winter.

I would rather it be autumn until Christmas/New Years at which time we get 2 feet of snow and then it all melts January 2 and spring arives around President's Day. This will leave me with an abundance of firewood which allows me to sell a few cords and buy another saw. But, I fear the Mrs. will grab that extra $$ and we'll get a new set of curtains or something else that is useless.

I also hope for a mild winter so i can save wood to sell/trade for a new saw....got my eye set on the MS660

Is there such a thing where you live?

I predict a very mild, short-lived winter. I'll have you know that almost ALL of my predictions are wrong. I sure hope I'm wrong this year!! ;)

last year was quite good to us...only had to start the snow blower once and temps where only in the the -30's for about a week, the rest of the time -16 to -24c on average.

My snow moving tractor is broken, so I think it all hinges on me, guys. If I get it fixed or replaced before winter, we shouldn't have any snow. If I don't... look out!

The mild winter last year gave us a ton of ticks this year, and hurt the apple crop. I don't mind if it's cold.
