Feeling the Heat

This week Walmart Charlottetown has Trebio for 4.89/bag (40 lb) and Kent has Comfy Cozy for 4.99..I think Illsleys in Summerside is now 5.39 for the Crabbe Pellets.

Yeah Kents has Comfy Cozy on here in South Western New Brunswick as well for 4.99 a bag, last year's stock after they are gone they are going to be 5.49.... I haven't priced any other brands but will take a look next time out and about.....

Bought 250 bags of Ambience last week at a BMR store.
A great pellet, hardwood from Quebec. Burned them last year and was very pleased. Little ash and a big heat!
Best pellet I've tried so far. Paid 5.10 a bag, plus $25 for delivery.

Walmart in Halifax has Trebios - $4.96 per 40 lb bag. I snagged a bunch today - as many as I could fit in my poor VW and still be driveable. Everywhere else seems pegged at $5.50 or so for Eastern Embers.

As long as Walmart has stock, I'll be buying the Trebios all winter - it is better pellet than the Eastern Embers in my view.

As of last week Home Depot in Dartmouth had Eastern Embers for $4.99, but at the Halifax store near me they were $5.46. When I pointed it out to them they reluctantly agreed to match the Dartmouth store's price so I picked 20 bags. Back in May I had bought 2 65-bag pallets of Eastern Embers from Enfield Home Hardware, also at $4.99/bag plus $50 delivery, so I should be pretty well set for the winter. I have tried Cozy's, the Trebios from Walmart, Canawicks from Cdn Tire, along with a few others but my Whitfield seems to like the Eastern Embers the best. My Harman's not as fussy.

My Harman Accentra doesn't seem to care about pellet quality either - it burns pretty much anything happily. For me, I see a difference in heat and ash output.

My favourites #1 - a tie with LGs (made in Quebec, sold by Rona - not seen for a few years), Trebios (Quebec, sold by Walmart), Burning Embers (Bin Doctor, Superstore - good pellet from Newfoundland, but pricey in 20lb bags); #2 Eastern Embers (available widely); #3 Canawicks ( New Brunswick, sold by Can Tire); #4 Cozys (New Brunswick, sold by Kent). I was really hoping the Canawicks would be a good pellet (I travel to New Brunswick for work and could bring back some from time to time), but I found the heat output was lower.

Jim,

I have been looking at local dealers and I saw this place has upped the price of these pellets by $100/ton. Are they worth it? Have you burned Okies? I'm interested in the heat difference between the two.

Got Trebios for 150 a ton last year cash. Uxbridge ma

They were ok. Not the hottest pellet ive burned but for 150. they were great. I have not burned okies. I really like spruce point and greene team as they burn good in my stove. Last winter pellets direct in uxbridge had a cash and carry for trebios for 150 a ton. wish I bought a couple tons.

New Brunswickers - any pellet deals in Moncton?

I have to travel there for work next week, and will be bringing back a 1 ton truck. My boss says it is okay if I throw some pellets in for the trip home.

Any good deals?
