Does anybody have a manual for an old Glacier Bay?
I have other posts related to this unit but have not succeded in my endeavers yet. Is someone has a manual that I can get some information out of that may solve my problem.
Here is the unit shown without it's side covers, can be freestanding or as an insert. Coal or Wood.

Wish I could help you. what is your problem? It real hard to expect manuals hanging around 30 years are the manufacturer has folded up his tent

If you need generic clearance it combustiables I can help you

If you do a search for Glacier Bay you will see some posts I've been doing looking for specifications on the Blower system for this unit.
I was hoping if someone had the manual it might have the specs or some other information that would help me. Even if it just had the part number for the blower it would help.

Blowers are very easy to find. Find the hole of the input on the unit, and then take a rough guess on CMF. I'm going to guess one or two blowers somehwere between 75-100 cfm because those are common figures. You'll have a rheostat on it, at the very least, so you'll be able to tone it down if too much air is being moved. This isn't an area of exact science, so you won't hurt too much if you're a shade too large or small.
 
have the stove, have the manual

it says the unit requires blower model CFO(O with a slash thru it??)101. i goggled it, but nothing came up. what i have done... a small computer fan, coffee can, attached to the side. has worked for the past 30 years.

if you want any more info, just let me know

As you mention the coffee can idea ... I guess your unit does not have the original blower system.
I am very familiar with computer system components, hard to believe a small 40 fan could produce enough air flow to be of benefit.
Are you referring to room air circulation or combustion air? What did you do to mount it to the opening on the stove? The stove open is approx. 16" x 2 1/4".
Does the manual have anymore info on the blower ie. measurements, diagrams, brand etc.? If I even knew the manufacturer of the blower that might help. I've checked with Fasco but without the correct part number they can not help me either.
If you look at the link I posted I have photos of what the blower should be like but not enough info yet.
When you say 75 - 100 CFM is that per fan? Total 150 - 200 CFM?
The unit I have the photo of had only 1 fan.
How many pages is the manual?
Would it be possible for me to get a copy? If it is not too many pages maybe some digital pictures of the pages can be emailed or linked?

Sorry christina... just realized that it wasn't you who mentioned the 75 - 100 cfm. That was suggested by carrie. My mistake.
 
thank god it wasn't me... cause i was going huh? they think i'm technical??? *fluffing once blonde hair*

anyway... the stoves never came with the blower, that was an option. and 30 years ago at i think $100 i couldn't afford it. uncle was a rube goldberg type of guy, and he made me a blower outta 3 coffee cans and a computer fan. it has heated my raised ranch for all these years with location in the basement. decided i was too old for lugging wood(stopped coal years ago) and now we did a pellet insert upstairs.

anyways...there is nothing in the manual about the blower except the number i gave you. that is the only mention.

if you want, i can try and scan the manual and link it...but i am computer challenged.

If you need help computer wise. I should be able to do that. It is what I do for a living.
As you are switching to pellet, what are you doing with the old Glacier Bay stove?
I don't see where abouts are you located? Perhaps in the Northeast?
If you don't want your location public just send it as a "private message" If you are close enough maybe I can just swing by and scan it in myself.
Do you have any pictures of the "Rube Goldberg" device?
I may have to start drinking coffee ;)
 
Hey Cold in NJ, where in NJ are you? I live in morris county, and am actually interested in seeing one of those old glacier bays. I almost bought one off ebay recently, but the outlet is 8 inch, and I only have 6 inch liners.

Christina, I have a project going where I am trying to get and scan old manuals. If you feel like sharing, I would gladly scan it and return to you both a paper copy and PDF.

argh!! i'm sorry, but i don't want to give up the original. i would want to leave it for new owners when i sell the house.

cold...i still will use the stove on those bitter winter days and we loose power here in NW CT ;)
here's what i'll do... i know how to scan to the printer, if you even tried to talk me through to scan, upload, etc, i'm gonna get lost in the process...guaranteed. PM me your address, i will scan and print the manual and send it to you. i'll take a picture of my coffee can blower and send that too ;)
 
Aww come on you can trust craig, he'll return it just think of how many people could benefit from it being here at hearth.com.

Now coldinnj If you give me the bolt pattern and opening I can probably send you a couple links to check, but may not be till monday night cause I'm not at my desk right now which has about a dozen manufacturers of motors catalogs (not including Grainger) let me know.
