Shop addition - 100% finished

At least on the outside....just glued all those boards on the garage door and put the fake hardware on
Pellet stove vent visible on rear.

I'll post some inside pics after awhile, not painted - just raw sheetrock, but some nice tools in place as well as momentos from the old stove days.

Because of weather here, they put a 36" wide ice and snow shield up the valleys and then usually weave the shingles in, although colored metal is also an option. Of course, on a 12/12 roof it is doubtful it would leak anyway!

Pretty much no crime at all here - or at least not that type. A store in town just got busted for doing football pools, and there are plenty of drugs and drunks around...

I'll get my insurance updated, and they will have a tough time hauling my 1200 lb jump shear anyway. Of course, they might just roll the pellet stove out - that would be easy.

I'm going to put a little X-10 security system in there just for fun...also have blinds for the windows.

Rooster, I did not do the shingles - a local young man I found on Craigslist did it, and during those days it was 100+ degrees. No 12/12 roofs for me, thanks!

I have got permits for it, but:
1. It is not attached to the house - it butts only the garage
2. Even though I put a garage door on it, it is a shop - there will not be cars, or gas or similar things stored in there.

I will tell my insurance agent about the addition soon just so it is added to the policy.

Thanks....yes, it cost a lot more to blend in exactly, but being as our house is so visible from the street, I really didn't have much choice. I'm sure I will get my $$ back out of it when I sell this house...saved a lot by doing much of the work myself and finding reasonable subs. Although I only use it for storage, it has a lot of attic room and real sturdy up there. If I had to guess.

It was the first time I ever installed vinyl siding and also the first time I used an aluminum brake (for bending trim, etc)....that siding goes up really easy!

It's had to complain about our house (it is almost perfect)....but if I had my druthers I'd have a few acres and an outbuilding for a shop as opposed to attached. When we bought it I told Martha that if we stay in the area, I want to get something like that.

It's either that, or get a smaller house/townhouse/condo in town (northampton) and then do a bunch of traveling.....to warmer climes during the winter, of course. The big secret that I'm certain Elk will agree on if that the summer here is so nice you really don't want to go anywhere...... BeGreen and the others in the Northwest also keep it hush-hush that summers are great there also. They want potential new resident to be scared away by the rain.
