Just a heads up to anybody in mid Michigan. A friend of mine owns xyz landscaping supply in Durand Mi and tomorrow around 1pm timber wolf is doing some demos on their line of log splitters. Xak sells husky chain saws etc.... and is thinking of a splitter line to carry. He hesitant on the price of these units however. I'm gonna stop in and get the low down! ( not really, just for a free lunch) lol.....:)

Interesting. Bummer I got plans tomorrow or else I'd be there. It would be nice if the demo truck would have a table grate or log lift add-on for my TW that they'd like to part with for cheap...

So where is this located in Durand?

Hey Dennis, the address is 8800 Lansing rd. Its just east of MacDonald's. Can't miss it.

Thanks wishlist. No promises but I may show up just out of curiosity.

Watched the demo yesterday. They had a t5 ( I believe that's a 25 ton if memory is correct) out with a log lift , 4 way splitter, and end table on it. I must say the overall quality is outstanding. Very nice splitters, nice options but that does come at a NICE price.
One thing that stood out was the double detent, you could have a log on the splitter and the ram would go extend, split log, and retract hands free. Slick! I think the demo unit is really made for more than 1 person to operate. It just splits so fast that the machine would be idle alot if your splitting solo. The demo unit did sell yesterday for $6900 . Ouch! Still if I had a money tree in the backyard I would have one! :)

Yeah, that's just too damm expensive! I'll stick with the Swisher 22 ton vertical/horizontal I picked up two years ago on Craigslist (it was used twice by the original owner) for $800.00. I've gotten my money back many times with that thing already......love that machine.....

Too dangerous with more than 1 person. I keep a TW-6 moving with very little idle time. I pile a bunch of rounds on the lifter for a steady supply.

Only downtime is when I'm placing another stack on it. I don't bother with larger rounds - faster to split by hand.
I rarely use the 4-way or 6-way attachment since I prefer smaller splits.

Wishlist, now I don't feel bad that I didn't get to Durand. A long drive for that? I did not realize the price.

You mean you already cut down the money tree Dennis? :)

Ya, one day I got greedy and cut down everything.

I have a TW2 which is more than sufficient for my needs, and would definitely recommend TW to anyone. I do have the table grate and 4-way, and will be adding the manual log lift for the heavier splits (I ain't getting any younger). The 9-second cycle time is what sold me on it. Use to wait forever for the ram to retract with the old one.

That's why I own and recommend the Iron & Oak machines. Excellent quality, maybe not as slick as the Timberwolf units but far more affordable to the average woodburner.
