I'm toying with the notion of firing up the ol' 1900p this weekend, with lows in the upper 30's being forecast. Trouble is I recently remodeled our home, and went all-out on the insulation...........that house takes FOREVER to chill down. We'll see what happens.

Should be good this winter for keeping the heat in too Scotty, I imagime you went "overkill" on insulating the house?

One of my favorite pictures of my kids is one of them sitting around the woodstove on a cold late-December morning eating their breakfast. You're right Pete........it isn't the same without a warm, cozy fire around Christmastime. I don't get tired of burning in the woodstove til around April. That's when I've had enough. And that's about when we start cooking outside on the ol' keyhole pit on a weekly basis!

We also did our insulation recently Scotty and man what a difference the last half of last winter was ! We acctually went a little to overkill on our jotul f50 because we had no insulation at the time. Now it cooks us out with a load in the am and one in the pm no more 3rd load a day.

I remember when you put that in, Pete. That'll pay off big time over the coming years!!

We're still running our air conditioning in one end of the house. Lots of glass / it heats up any time the sun is shining. Nights are getting cooler, though... probably another month until we need an evening fire.

Scattered frost overnight but we didn't light the stove until just a few minutes ago. Decided to light a small fire just to take a bit of chill off. Besides, the wife wants to wash her hair so wants it a bit warmer. So first fire on 9/19 this year.

have a fire in the stove this morning. Woke up to 40::F outside and 67::F. I thought I would have a small re-learning curve with my second season but it's just like riding a bike.

But riding the bike is still more fun.

I dunno about that, I've ridden when it was -7::F and that wasn't much fun. Sitting by the stove when it's that cold is way more fun.

When it is that cold I do my riding on a trainer inside.

CONGRATS, DENNIS! It's cool and crisp outside this evening, but still waaaaay too warm here in the house (almost 73 degrees). Hoping for a burn this weekend. If I hadn't insulated the house so darn good when we remodeled, we'd have been burning for a week or so.....

Lucky bass turd. I'm hoping we get the cold nights they are calling for this Friday through Sunday. Stove is pretty much ready, just have to knock the dust out of the blower motor and a drop of machine oil on each bearing in it. Looking forward to firing the stove!

I was on bike patrol and had to prove that I could do it. I rode for 15 minutes went to a convenient store to warm up and then back out for 15 then called it a night!

First fire threads merged under one roof. I'll join ya in October at some point.

Still a bit warm here fora fire.trying to resist the urge when the chill of the evening sets in. Need to hold out eating into the wood stacks with the first year burning two stoves in my sights. Besides wife won't let me, odd.

Just rebuilt the fireview tonight new gaskets, new cat (didn't really need it but wanted a spare) recement pipe joints. More just a quick crawl of the roof for a quick brushing. Another nod to Woodstock customer service here a well.

I could do without the snow for a little while but you are probably right.

Hey Osceola, we're sort of distant neighbors! I'm just outside Barnes Corners. No snow yet! But here's one for ya from Montague:
