I could be wrong but that stove looks like it hadn't been cleaned in a very long time...meaning more than one season. It doesn't appear to be a airflow issue to me...just an extreme lack of maintenance. As you say, Harmans automatically adjust the airflow. I never have any creosote in that part of my P61A, just fly ash.

You need to read what I said about how that comes about, and it is an airflow issue, lack of cleaning causes airflow reduction, as do bad gaskets, and depending upon where they are missing cover plates.

Any "automatic" adjustment system has it limits past which it no longer is effective.

You clean the stove to prevent airflow issues. All of these stoves regardless of brand all do the same thing in the same way some just have more bells and whistles and frequently people rely on those and think life is hunky dory until the yucky black stuff either prevents the stove from starting or lights off and .... oops there goes the chimney, flue, and/or the house and stove.

Easy Big Fella....I understand what you are saying. My point was to say that if you keep your stove clean and maintain it properly what you see in that pic will never happen (especially in a Harman):);)

I bet they forgot to sprinkle some some pellet stove cleaner on the pellets each time they filled the hopper.. yep.. can't forget that.

That reminds me.. I need to stop and get some headlight fluid for my car after work. it's running low.
My car headlights do have fluid...its called water....just kidding
