Picked up the stove yesterday, it's still in the crate and will be there for a while till I have time to get it up and running. I will be happy if I get anywhere near the advertised burn times from this stove. Thanks guys for your advise on helping me pick this model.

Congrats. Legs or pedestal?
Went with pedestal. My current stove has legs and it just collects dust under there. I liked the look of both, it was a tough call, but I was told the ash pan on the pedestal was bigger so I took that route. I enjoyed my Intrepid but as I burned more and more, I realized burn time became more important, especially with a wife who did not attend to the stove like I did. If I was not home, out it went. If I did not anticipate more burning in my future, I would have stuck with the Intrepid. Nothing like a nice warm house when the power goes out. Also only filling an oil tank once a year. This stove should fit right in the same place without any issues. Should be installed within the next 2 - 3 weeks when I can lasso some friends to help me load it in the house.

Congrats on the new stove.

Congrats! I can't wait to hear how it works once you get it up and running.

Congrats! I came close to buying a Sirocco but changed my mind last minute, It will be interesting to hear your review on this new stove.

Congrats, post pics of the install, and save that crate wood. It'll make great kindlin' Be well

He's got a Blaze King he'll only need enough kindling to start one fire. ::-)

Congrats on the new stove, we need pics of that bad boy out of the crate! :)

Ok so the Intrepid is out, the new stove is almost in. Only problem so far is the double wall adjustable chimney--guess what, my luck---1" too long adjusted all the way down. Gotta order an 18" pipe as the 24" makes it too long. At least it's still warm here. Some adjustments to make but should be ready in a week or two.

finally, Blaze King has a stove I really, really like the looks of!! Evilgriff, that install is looking good. Do you know the size of the firebox on the Scirocco?

Scotty, BK info states 1.8 cu. ft.
If they'd make a 3 to 3.5 cu.ft. model, I'd be seriously looking at one of those. While I am quite happy with my Napoleon, I do like the legendary burn of the BK's. I'm not totally crazy about the catalytic converter, but it is amazing to see one of them in action, burning up all the gasified fuel.

They are coming out with the larger Sirocco 30 and cast iron Ashford 30 sometime this year or early next year. They have the same fire box as the Chinook 30.

Does the Chinook and the Princess have the same heating capacity? They have the same firebox size, right? Anything different on the Chinook that makes it heat more or less square feet than the Princess?

The fire boxes are about the same size but the Princess has a deeper box below the door. I would think they have about the same heating capacity but the Chinook states a longer burn time of 30 hours verses 20 for the Princess. I was told by BKVP that the t-stats are a bit different on their new stoves and can be turned down for an even lower output thus the longer burn times. I'm pretty satisfied with my Princess, just did another 30 hour burn here the last couple days and it kept the house at a nice even 75.

What kinda money are we talking for this stove.

My local store had the Scirocco with a 1695$ sticker on it. I opened the door and the firebox feels way way smaller than the princess, and it is supposed to be, but it feels small. The larger 30 size boxes are much larger.

Owe you guys an apology, spelled Sirocco as Scirocco, no "c" as second letter. My mistake. Highbeam, stove cost me 2700- this is NJ, things here cost more I guess, and I did shop around, this was good price for me, most places wanted 3100 without fans. Now thats another story. I was sold the fan without the top convection kit. Still deciding whether to send it back or spring for the kit. Also, chimney height changed so now a new section of pipe. And lastly, I think I need a Double Wall Adapter Section-on my Intrepid, the chimney sat nicely without a flue adapter on the stove. Not so with the Blaze King. Ordered the adapter and an 18" pipe. It's getting chilly here at night already. Hope to fire it up in the next few weeks or so. DexterDay took your advise and updated the profile. I lurk alot but don't post much as I am more of a student on this forum than a teacher. Also you were right about the Kubota, that is used more to move stuff around than anything else. Stove was pulled up stairs into house with 4x4 post on doorframe and Harbor Freight 40 dollar winch hooked to jumper pack while on the skid, and landed perfectly on a dolly. My friends are not the youngest or the strongest, but both are engineers and thinkers.

Ooops, I made the scrirroco mistake as well. I spent many years working on my first car, a VW Scirocco and it's hard to drop that first C.
