Boom Stick

Feeling the Heat

Got my MS 391 yesterday and had a pile waiting for me. My FIL put this aside for me as some of the pieces were bigger than he likes to mess with. Also he is at least 5 years ahead on wood. His house is heated by a wood burning furnace and he has been using it for 30 years....He has never paid for wood. He is what we all aspire to be like. I really like the new saw.....am glad I bought it. tough time choosing from the 40 that stihl makes. this replaces my newly dead 039. This is my only saw. Tested my new saw on this big piece of hard maple.....ran through it pretty nicely....getting into the back of my truck will be another story.

Nice haul, BS! Looks to me like yer breaking that new saw in the right way......BALLS TO THE WALL! Thanks for sharing the pics.....

Boom Stick, nice saw, what size bar are you running on it?Some nice size rounds.

20 inch bar. Within the pile there are some big pieces. I think there are 3 or 4 more pieces like that. A tree service dropped them off to my FIL......he couldn't be bothered so he took what he wanted and gave me the rest.........I'll take it!

Nice haul! A new saw is always fun, too. I'm hoping my 039 is not dead, but merely unconscious. That's a great size saw to have when you need it...not too heavy, but kicks some butt.

very nicely done...i am still jealous of those that have tree services willing to drop at the doorstep

That saw is a beauty! It looks like you have a good start at breaking it in! Have fun with it!

Having fun with the new saw, eh?
Split the big rounds in place or get a 2X8 for a ramp & roll it on the truck.

Nice pics.

nice score! it was nice of your fl to throw you the bone. i was up in grafton tlast weekend for my nephew's wedding. it was chilly as night fell you're gonna need that saw for sure. I'm originally from the other side of the averill park area out 43 on the edge of the hudson valley. now I'm in the Capital Region, about 40 miles outside of D.C.. not my favorite place to be, but it provides a living.

A good plank or two and a cant hook will do wonders for that. Have fun with the new saw. Looks like a dandy.
