Feeling the Heat

Hey all. My neighbor buddy installed a TimberRidge 55-PAH pellet stove in the spring and this year he wants to add a programmable thermostat. He'd like it to be wireless, also.

Put me on the right track. What are some options that don't break the bank. He's on a budget and something under $100 would be great if possible.

Thanks in advance.

I have done some initial research and finding a decent one under 150 will be tough. Go to web stores like smarthome.com and you can have more choices than you know what to do with.

I am looking at The Nest learning wireless thermostat. Supposedly invented by the guy who designed the iPod. Seems pretty cool. But as said above, getting a decent unit under $100 will be tough.

The option to wireless is using several thermostats wired in parallel.

Thanks for the help guys. Sounds like he's gonna suck it up and get the Skytech 3301P.

Look at the Skytech models. They have an adjustable swing of up to 6° total (3° above and below set-point).

I can set mine at 72° and stove kicks on at 69° and shuts of at 75°… Allows for a good Soak temp when running on Low. Stove runs for awhile. But its also off for awhile.

I agree with DexterDay with Skytech models. I bought the Skytech 3301P2 last October new off ebay for $119.00 and love it! Haven't had any issues or problems with it to date. It was between the Skytech 3301P and 3301P2 and I went with the P2 version cause I loved the blue backlit display it had. I looked to check prices on it now for you, but it's going for $191.20 now. The 3301P is about $139-159 I've found from quick searches. There are also brands out there at Lowes and Home Depot which I also researched when I was buying one, but after reviewing online and this site, I chose a Skytech model. Hope that helps.

-By the way DexterDay, Thanks again for recommending me to Skytech. It was yourself and Xena who helped me when I was looking for a wireless Thermostat.-

I have the Skytech 3301P myself and lucked out on Ebay for like $95 last year. I also purchased at the recommendation of DexterDay. I think it's the best solution for my buddy's situation and he'll be happy with it also.

jrsdws - do you like the Skytech stat? I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger on that one. I have the same stove as you. Are you happy with it?

Love it!!! I couldn't be happier with it.
