I bought a ton of Green Teams 2 weeks ago, listed price of $209. They had Green Teams, Green Supremes, Cheat River, and Timber Heat, all the same price, and they asked me if I had a preference as I met them to load my pickup.
I go there for another ton on Saturday and they charge me $269/ton. I tell them I just bought a ton of them @ $209, and even show them the receipt. They tell me that "now" Green Teams are classified as "Super Premium" and warrant the extra cost.
I tell them that I have been buying pellets from them for 4 years now, and not once ever were there different prices for different brands. I know that better pellets cost more, but they were always "one price fits all" ath Lowe's.

Oh well, needless to say I went home empty. I have enough for this year and probably all of next year in my larder anyways....... just trying to be a pig i guess.

Here in New England, with the exception of some CT stores, we've been at the higher price for GT for months and we've been complaining loudly about it here on the forum....

IMO, A bit too smart for their britches.. They are now overcharging for the GT's and at that price, they can sit there. GT are not super premium, and with real super premiums in the area for similar pricing, the best they should be charging is 209-230 max. Go to HD and see if you can get some Fireside to try out in the 200-209 range.

I was talking with the manager at my local lowes and told him the price for GT's are way to high and people like myself will not buy any. I also told him they are not a super duper pellet and he's going to get stuck with them.

I just called a couple of the local Lowe's, (including where I bought the 8 tons of GT's for $168/ton) and the GT's are now up to $5.20/bag with no discount. Guess they are getting smart.

They are not getting smart! they are getting greedy and screwing people!!

I imagine that there are those who will still buy them at that price, just not the edjumicated folks here on hearth.com.

The Lowes closest to me has Infernals for $209 and GT for $260. They will only sell full tons of the GT pellets.

I talked to my local Lowes manager. They said that the last couple years they were actually taking losses from people using various discounts / military discounts, and are not worried about selling pellets. Hopefully they change their minds next year.

You are %100 correct, its too bad more people aren't on this forum so they can get a free education.

I too might play a little more for them, But not what they are askin. IMHO, They can keep um and sell em for compost once they turn to mush! ::-)

It was last December up here in Maine when Lowes jacked the price. Haven't bought a pellet there since. HD raised their prices at the same time, but this year they're selling MWP blend for $197/ton. Even the per bag price is the same. So if anyone around here buys pellets at Lowe's, and they will, they're stupid. And you can't fix that.

Yep, The GT's have a pretty good following. So some will just muster up the carrots to get em. Funny if a local pellet house has Greene Golds for less.

There are people out there that believe the line of crap that Lowe's gives them that the Platinum pellets they sell up here are better than the Greene Teams. People swear they get a lot more heat and a lot less ash, when in reality they're all the same.

We heard stories from the Lowes staff last season. They had the GT platinums selling for more than the GT's. It was my turn to say they were all the same! hehe ;lol

Well we may have ourselves to blame for raving on about a sleeper pellet, tracking there delivery and calling the mill for more. Cats outa the bag.
Time to do some homework/testing and find the next one.

Be vewy vewy quiet I'm hunting pewwits ;)

Yea I just bought 4 bags of green teams from a lowes here in N.Y. for $5.20 a bag. There was no price near the GT stack, but North Americans and Green Supremes were $4.38 a bag. At check out the clerk said he wasn't aware of discounts for a ton. When I questioned the $5.20 GT price and tried to get them for $4.38 he was quick to call another clerk and a supervisor to show me the different prices. Also said I could swap them for the cheaper pellet and they were all " premium pellets that meet very high standards" I told them no I would take the 4 bags of GTS, but would not be back for the ton that I really would have bought if the price was $219. They didn't seem bothered in the least.

The people working at Lowe's certainly don't care about customer dis-satisfaction on pellet prices - I suspect the prices are set at the corporate office and discounts offered on a regional store by store basis.
Anything over $200 for pellets don't make any economic sense compared to my NG fired boiler anyways.
What really gets me is I get these $10 and $20 dollar coupons IF you purchase $50 or $250 of goods. So I can't apply that to any pellets priced around $200/ton unless of course I buy something to make up the difference.
Back to scrounging for free wood.

OH, now I get it. Compared to Inferno, GT ARE super premium. Now there is marketing (smoke and mirrors) at its best. Pure crap against above average.

Still not super premium.
