I'm gonna get a big kick out of Lowes selling Somersets for the same cost as Inferno's. Just another Premiem grade pellet. ;)

Maybe we should all boycott Greene teams from lowes until they get the hint and drop the prices.

Haven't seen Somerset up here in almost 2 years :(

Would love to see those at Inferno pricing. Yep, just another schmuck pellet, keep telling Lowes that so they dont jack up those too.

Tell the clerk " darn, I cant afford those wonderful super premium GT at 260, I guess I will settle for Somersets at 209". Then drive away with a smirk.

I agree with that and we should pass the word to people we know who are regular trollers on this forum to do the same. I wonder if Lowes is doing this trying to see what they can sell now that we are coming to the burning season. It will be interesting to see if they run the same discount / special next summer that they ran in August this year.

Maybe the fine folks at Lowes are members here and are reading all these post's:) and they will get the hint that we won't stand for the corporate greed.

no "dog in the fight " here, but im curious, i wonder if lowes is getting the same price wholesale for each brand. most stores have a standard markup from wholesale. so if they cost lowes more, the would then cost us more in retail.

that said were this the case and the GT's dont move off the shelves lowes isnt going to buy them at that price next time. just my 2 cents.

I had a phone conversation with Robbie at GT last year. I complained about the difference in pricing between stores. He tried to attribute it to freight costs, but at $50/ton more up here than in some stores in CT, thats $1100 per 22 ton truckload. There's no way it costs that much more to ship to Maine than Ct. I also asked him about Lowe's personnel saying that GT told them the Platinums are a much better pellet than the regular GT. He denied that and said the upper echelon in the Lowe's chain know better but the people on the floor don't. So basically, he was blowing smoke up my butt. I told him I'd never buy them again at that price, but he really didn't care. 'Cause like I said in another thread, there are enough people out there that will still buy them that our boycott wouldn't make a difference at all.

interesting subbie, not an answer i would have wanted to hear personally.

i was just asking the question, not picking sides. just wanted to see if there was any actual pricing reason involved.

good on ya subbie for posting your conversation.

Thanks.

I'm curious if you have any Home Depot stores near you that you could go to instead of Lowes? I know the HD's down here are selling Stove Chow at $209/ton - they have been at this price for about 3 weeks if not longer and they are advertising the Lowes price right in front of the pallets.

...or ask Lowes for a price match if you really want the Lowes ones. After all they both think all pellets are all the same, right? >>

Lowes seems to be catching on. I did try that last spring, But they didn't waiver. Once Greene Team started putting Platinum on the bag was the start of it all. Now Lowes thinks they are better than the standard GT's. I could get the standard GT's for the low price as the other brands if they had them. But they were all bent the Platinums were much better. ;em

Edit: FYI = Just got an email from Robbie.

I'll stop in next week and see what they are getting for them!

Now that i have secured my full season of pellets, i will share with you where you can still get Green Team for 209.00 per ton. I got my last Friday from Lowes in Bloomfield, they had at least 20 tons or more left.

I was in Lowes in Oneonta NY they had Somersets sold waiting delivery that were sold for 209 ton. No more available for sale at this time. I still have about 7 tons left in the stash from last year and the year before. :) Need a ton or two of some other pellets for the shoulder season. Keep the good ones for the real cold. Last year had some green supreme_g , let’s just say I would not buy them again unless they were less than 155 ton.

Well, Lowe's is my competition, so, Im sur ethey are $crewing everyone :), but, maybe its simply the Green Team's cost them more in landed cost? Hey, there's options out there folks....you dont have to support the big boxes...shop elsewhere. Imagine how much pellets will be when they put all the competition out of business?

Yup they are trying to kill the local dealer. That's why I will continue to buy from my local shop so long as service remains good and I can afford what they are selling.

x3 Service before, during and after the sale counts

Unless they are made out of %100 hickory or some other excotic wood the price is way too much. Just my opinion.
