This will be my fourth winter burning wood to heat my house, but I've been a pyro my whole life.

*What if you've been burning for more than 5 years, but less than 10?

More that ten years, however, I didn't know anything until I came here and started reading everything in sight. I have done it right since 2010. Before that I was lucky not to burn a house down.

Yeah I've been "burning" wood for about 11 years, but been heating for about 6yrs after finding this site.

Grew up with a stove in the house....installed mine here 5 years ago

Built my home in the middle of the first energy crises here in the Northeast in 1979 and have burned every year since.

Abut 3.5 cord per year. 1800 sq ft home.

Ya know, that adds up to a lot of wood over the years now doesn't it? Just did the math to visualize this - if you have 8' ceilings, then over the last 33 years you have burned enough to fill that 1800 sqft home from floor to ceiling with wood (house volume is about 112 cords and you have burned about 115). Lower your ceilings to 7' and you are almost 1/5th of the way to filling it a second time....

I'm a bit behind here - only starting my 5th year...

Take your time, the years go by way to fast.. but yeah, I can see where I've easily burned more than cubic capacity of the house.

This will be the 2nd year with the 30.

Been using the Pre-Fab for going on 8 yrs (ambiance/Wife still likes it) and Pellets since Feb 09.

Been without a Cigg since Jan 27th of 2012. One day at a time.

But loved Fire my whole Life. :)

Started when I built my house in 1974. At home helping Dad before that. For the record, I have enjoyed every minute of it. I have been warm many times when those around me had frozen pipes and came to my house to keep from freezing their..........well you know;)

Starting my 2nd year burning a EPA wood stove.

5 years, but only 4 the right way. In my old house I was burning two pre EPA slammer install stoves. How I didn't burn the house down is beyond me.

This site has been amazing for me, and safety! I wonder how many houses hearth.com has saved?

That's what I have going, too. Is that five years or less? More than 25? It's been my responsibility,in my own house, for five years now.

Began Feb. 2010. Thanks to Hearth.com and iskiatomic (aka KC, or Kenbo), he's taught me a thing or two... which he learned from Backwoods.
Reduced oil consumption down to just running for the hot water tank, or when it is bitter cold and the far end of the house is chilly.

Grew up burning wood, taught by Dad. Had a brief hiatus while I went to college to drink beer. Started back up after I bought my own place. Man it feels good to start back up again.
