It looks so small. It looks a lot smaller than the Vigilant and the Defiant since it is deeper than it is wide. I'm looking at it thinking; that's going to put out less heat than the Encore.

The shape is really making the stove look small in that fireplace.

Uh oh?...?...? Your not thinking you "Settled"? Are you?

If its Deeper, shouldn't it stick out further? Providing more heat?

No. It's just that this is my first N/S firebox. The Defiant and Vigilant were much wider than they are deep. They are also taller stoves since the E/W fireboxes are shallow, but much taller.

It is deeper, but since the pipe collar isn't coming out the back of the stove it actually sits in the same spot.

I'll see what I can do for pics.

Seems to me the old VCs probably looked more like they belonged in that space. Just the overall aesthetics of the VC, the cast, the......oh, sorry, don't want to temp you into returning to them.

I would dare say an F-600 would look good in there too :)

Enjoy the heat!

The 30 was the wise choice. $900, delivered to my front door, and a lot less maintenance. Maintaining three VC stoves is a lot of work.

It actually looks pretty good in the fireplace. Just a lot different than the previous two stoves.

Cool, in every sense of the word. Damn drafts. ;em

If everything works like it should this winter, what I need to do is end the stove buying craze and move my time and money into windows, doors, and insulation. Which will be a long and expensive challenge.

I always had images of BB living in a secluded, albeit large, log cabin with mud filling the gaps and a large grizzly named Ben following him around the woods. Guess that image is effectively shattered now! :)

expensive but once you cut all the drafts these stone houses nearly heat themselves.....nearly;)

Or, the photos are fake, just to throw everyone off the scent. :)

And the Grizzly just informed me that only his closest friends can call him Ben. All others must call him by his full name; Benjamin Franklin.
