well, mine cracked too. And my dealer is no help at all! I am nervous about buring with 2 cracks on the exterior of the stove....
Can anyone help me with some contact info, please.

Thanks, Ray

What year is your stove? did you checkout the likely crack spots inside? You are probably going to need to have your dealer involved. Email address is on PE website I thinks its [email protected], be persistent an be patient. The process takes a while and don't let them give the $150.00 fix run around. Post some pics if ya get a chance, curious to see your cracks (that didnt come out right)

cracks are on both sides of the door opening. One pic is a little fuzzy, but the other is fairly clear. The stove has been burned for 3 seasons. I have not inspected the interior of the stove. I clean the chimney and stove this past weekend and nothing 'jumped out to me' except these 2 visible ones on the exterior. I will inspect it tongiht. Thanks.

Yea, that could move under heat load that close to the hinge and mess with the door seal too. I'd be nervous using it also, real bummer. Curious to hear what PE does for you.

I spent all night looking for any info on the purchase of the stove, couldnt find my reciept. But did find the reciept for the liner&cap that I purchased at the same time. 7/2007. I sent the pics I posted here along with my info to Ian @ PE. Have not heard back from him yet. So it appears that this is in the same time frame that the other 'problem stoves' were made. I am anxiously awaiting his reply. I didnt have time to check the inside of the stove lastnight, I will do so tonight. I didnt burn the stove much in the winter of 07/08, as I wasnt prepared with good wood to burn. Burned it all winter, 08/09-09/10 & 10/11. I have had a Rutland stove thermometer on it the entire time and rarley hit 800, it seemed to like burning at 700-750f. I really hope they take care of things with me. I have ejoyed heating our home with the Summit insert.

Sorry if I ask a silly question - as the pictures are not that clear (but thx for uploading) - are those really cracks or just casting deformations ? In other words - are you positive the cracks were not there originally and went unnoticed ? If legitimate cracks then sorry to hear.

Each side is a crack in the metal, Left side is also cracking downward along the door opening. They were not there when I bought the stove or during the past 3 seasons of burning. I will try to get better pics tonight when I inspect the inside. I took those with my phone.

Well, I finally got to speak to someone at PE. They will forward my photos to the distributer, who will then contact the dealer, who will then see about having the stove removed and sent out to be welded. yikes!.....He did say that burning the stove with the cracks wont be a problem. ??

Good luck! All sorts of potential for someone to drop the ball. PE > Distributor > Local Dealer ....

Sorry to be negative, but looks like there is little potential to getting it resolved with more than three parties involved.

I'll say it again, the dealer ends up being the responsible party when it comes to mitigating PE's warranty, future buyers beware, carefully research your dealer and make sure it is an established reputable business.
