Feeling the Heat

Well, I FINALLY got to light my new stove tonight! After months of projects I got the hearth from the cellar to the living room (Man that thing was heavy) took four of us to get it moved! Then we moved the stove to the hearth last night, today I got the elbow I needed to connect the pipe and I ran through my 3 curing fires. I just engaged the cat 10 minutes ago and it's going strong...... I'm really happy with this stove so far and once I get more familiar with it I'm sure I'll love it even more. Everyone is enjoying it now as you can see in the pics! Pictures of the hearth I built (Not the greatest thing I've built but it will do) I found out I'm not a good carpenter......

I'll get the wall and trim finished in a couple weeks, I got the stove installed and that was #1 on my list..

Happy wife and happy dogs, life is gooood!

Very very nice it looks great ! I am glad you got the pipe figured out. It's always worth it when you fire it up and get the full experience. Then you have to look at an empty stove over the summer months which makes you really want winter again. Lol

You forgot the, "Trust me, sweetheart." ;lol

I can't tell you how many times I used that, or a very similar, line. It's always gonna just be "a couple of weeks". I've had house-related projects that took me 12 years to finish. Not to mention the ones that just never got done at all.

Just having fun, of course. Everything you've done there looks absolutely gorgeous, and is quite obviously appreciated by those who matter most. Great job, beautiful installation. Thanks for the pics. Rick

You couldn't be more right fossil, I'm the same way! I got the most important job done, the stove is installed and cranking heat the rest of the projects will get done............ well.......... when they get done. ;lol As long as we're warm and not buying oil, it's all good!

Thanks Pete, the elbow from my old stove didn't fit so I had to get a new one but everything is looking good so far. I know what you mean about the summer months, I couldn't wait for it to get cold this year!

looks awesome although I may be biased since I have the same stove on the same style of hearth. What are you going to put on the wall?

Wow I love the hearth gmule, very nice work! As far as the wall goes I'm just going to paint it. Next year I would like to put some veneer stone on the entire wall.

I plan to veneer the painted sheetrock behind my stove........ in a couple of weeks. It'll be tough since it's been this way for so many years but we've always wanted stone behind the stove.

Very nice! Love the tile on the hearth (which looks great, btw). What tile is it? I think you and the gang are going to love the stove. Congrats!

Thanks HH! The tile on the hearth is slate, not the easiest tile to work with for a noob...... We love the stove already, i loaded up the stove before I went to bed last night and still had a small fire going this morning. About 8 hours or so, it would have went another few hours if I left it alone but I added a few splits hickory.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words! The stove is running well but I can't seem to get it to burn hotter than 450 degrees at the stove top. It is 48 and rainy right now so I would assume that has something to do with it. This thing holds heat like a champ though, I really love it so far!

How is your wood supply?

That is possible with the heavy air right now. Split size matters to if they are very large splits it wont gas as much however if you throw 2 or three smaller ones in t will really get going in my experience.
