Worked on some of the main trunk I brought home from a tree this summer. Was definitely the biggest job I've ever tackled, Finally had the time to finish most of the bucking. Pic is of my daughter hanging out with me and one of the logs from the main trunk I was working on cutting up. Saw is a farm boss for reference.Figured if i get the forks for my tractor I can use that to lift the rounds to the splitter. Some of the bigger ones are around 40", and being oak I don't think I want to try lifting them.

Cute little girl, awesome bunch of wood.

Neat picture with the youngster guarding that round. It surprises me how many splits come out of those fat ones. Nice score!

Nice picture swags, you'll have some nice fires from that Oak.

Oak is one of my favorites to burn and split

Gotta save the chair now :)
Those big rounds will make the stack grow faster than your helper ;)

Yeah thats the help I get and I think she is more of a distraction at times. But she loves being outside and playing in a pile of sawdust.

Love the output of an oak that big but I would have to split with maul. Too old to lift something that big. Put up with that little distraction of yours. Enough time spent together at the wood pile and she will no doubt be Daddy's girl 4ever.

The one she is sitting on is actually much smaller than some of the others I have bucked. No way I could lift them onto my neighbors splitter. (only horizontal) But I am going to pick up some forks for the 3 pt on my tractor and use that to lift the rounds to the splitter. Also going to start using three sided pallets to store and move wood to lessen the amount of handling.

Nice stash of oak there. I reckon one of those big rounds would split down and produce enough to keep our stove running for a few days.
Nice little helper too, that's a picture to treasure for the future when she grows up :)

Those big Oak rounds usually split pretty easily by hand. If you quarter (or more) them they get much more manageable.

Those are the kind you roll and not lift!

yep. once you break the strength of the cylinder its usually smooth sailing from there. usually.

I can roll them but it's that part at the end where it needs lifted to the splitter, that's the killer

Just one more reason for a splitter that works vertically.
