It's an intermediate switch on your exhaust or combustion blower. You use this to turn on the blower when cleaning the stove so it will suck the stirred up ashes out.

Oh a hopper shaker to force all of the pellets to slide down to the feed system?

I use a mouse tied to a string for that. He gets all the cheese he wants.

A on/off switch, electrical cord, a 9 volt battery, and a little alarm that tells you the power is out.

We have a winner! Sorry, no prize other than all our admiration.

All fun aside, it is a handy gizmo to let me know if the power goes out in order to shut down the stove before the backup runs out of juice.

Doesn't your UPS remind you, the one I have on this 'puter lets it be known that the power is out.

Too far away and on a different level. Even if you dont have a ups, provides some warning in the event of a power outage so you dont freak if the smoke detectors go off...

**I think** if you wired in a normally open contactor on the pellet hamper switch, it would open during a power outage, and safely automatically shut the unit off. Just a thought, could be done pretty cheaply.

Answer came before I saw this thread, but I had an idea.

It is a trick to play on your friends, you place it on the table and tell them "Don't Touch This!"
When they throw the switch, it puts 110v into a 9v battery and the battery blows up in their hands!

But power outage alarm will work also.
