Hi all:

I am sitting on 2.5 tons of various pellets: Green Supremes, Cubix, and OMalleys. I know the quality of the later 2 is deemed generally as high, and green supremes get some marginal reviews.

The price for almost any premium pellets in my area are 350 per ton (Cubix, Omalleys, Lignetics). We don't have a lot of distributors. So I can get $209 for GS at HD. Lowes tells me they have AWF for $220 per ton, but it is a little more of a ride to get to those. Are they a much better pellet? I think I would rather clean out my stove a lot and use the box store pellets rather than laying out 350 per ton. I have a M55 insert which is a multi fueler.

Input on AWF vs GS?

Between me and my neighbor we bought 6 tons of the green supremes from Lowes @ 209 per ton and split the shipping cost, A very good pellet IMO, I have tried the CUBIX and they are also a great pellet. But NOT at those prices. Last Year I bought 3 tons of barefoots up in the stratosphere of 300 per ton, Amazing HOT Pellet but out of my price range because of all the other expenses. The Green Supremes Are a steal at that Price. Last Friday It was 30 degrees outside and a balmy 78 degrees in the house with my stove running the green supremes.

Yeah saturday i was able to get the house cooking on the GS, but I have no idea what the burn rate was since it was just a day. I don't think I went through the hopper (60 LBs).

IMHO get as many tons of GS as you can afford and store. Balancing out cost, heat and low ash production I think they are great - at least in my stove.

Well - to learn up on what's what, I think I can grab some clean fires pacific or lg for around 300 with delivery per Ton. I might grab a ton of these, then have a stash of 3.5 tons, with an average cost of about 230 per ton. then I burn whatever pellets works for the weather. Down here you can get a mini shoulder season anytime in winter, so this might be a good mix. I will give the supremes a thorough test since that price is awesome.

At the very least I will have a good baseline for next year with several brands in store. GS, LG /clean, omalleys and some cubix.

American Wood Fibers are a better pellet than GS's. IMO.

I had one instance a couple years ago, where the AWF's were Very Loooong! But I have bought several bags here and there (over the last 2 yrs) and the length was fine and heat was good. I sent them an email with pics and concerns about the length and received a Gift Card from AWF. I used it to buy more AWF's. So they got more business from me ;)

The Green Supreme's burned very clean in my Quad. But the heat was not that great. YMMV. If I could get them pretty cheap, I would buy them. But by cheap, they would have to be less than $175. Somersets are on sale several times a year for $175… Gotta love it!
