As noted in my newbie thread, this will be my first year heating with pellets. The stove I am planning on is a timber ridge 55-TRPAH. I don't have any specific criteria to choose by other than it would be nice to have a pellet that didn't cause a lot of exessive cleaning or maintenance - though I also don't want to pay an arm and a leg to save a few minutes. I'd like to stick with one of the deliverable options (so, basically one of the brands from B&B) unless they're all garbage.
So, after some phone calls, this is what is available to me:
Lowes: "unknown" brand of premium hardwood (sales associate claimed they get different brands and she didn't know what they had at the moment, but I know they have TONS in stock - you can see at least a trailer load in their covered storage from the highway) $209/ton, no delivery
Home Depot: Green Supreme $209/ton no delivery
Town & Country: Curran premium hardwood $245/ton (forgot to ask them about a delivery charge!)
Hearth and Home: Dry Creek premium hardwood $265/ton, no delivery
Tractor Supply: Instant Heat premium hardwood $219.50/ton, no delivery
B&B Pellets:
New England Wood Pellets $230/ton
Curran premium hardwood/softwood blend $225/ton
Green Team $245/ton
Cubex $255/ton
flat fee of $20 for delivery
