After 3 years of experience smoke coming in my side entry door and seeping in other cracks around my house, I have decided i may want to change my exhaust. The stove shop installed my stove with 1 foot straight out of the wall termination. As a result smoke blows into my house. I'm thinking of going up maybe 3 feet and with a tee of course and a cap. This should keep the smoke from coming in my house and create a draft which will eliminate any smoke back if the power goes out. My current pipe is Duravent Pellet Pro. Anyone know where I can get good prices?

Dynamitebuys.com and talk to Sean for a discount code the price blew me away. Fast shipping as well. I just used them and could not be happier. And no I am not connected to them in any way just followed advise found here. Free shipping too

newtonh, can you give some examples of the prices you got and list the discount code you used?

I spot checked a few different items and the prices on that website were significantly more than in my local Lowes or many online vendors. (examples - duravent 45 degree elbow is $28 at Lowes, $52 on that website. Standard Selkirk install kit is $428 on that website, $200 - $250 elsewhere on the web). Am I missing something?

First off the pellet vent pro is not the pipe sold at Lowe's. It is standard DuraVent pipe. PVP pro is a much better pipe. rated to also burn corn and 1" rating to combustibles, I believe. It's laser welded as opposed to riveted. The prices you see on line are most likely identical from site to site. This is due to manufacturer rules that I don't completely understand still. lol I got a discount of one hundred dollars off of my order which was at $342 My TTL after discount was $242. I bought 8 parts. My code was (dynamite) all lower case. I don't know if these codes change or not.

Why does your stove smoke?

I think his problem is the stove shop just went straight through the wall with a one foot pipe and a cap. It is close enough to the door that he's pulling in exhaust through cracks. At least that's what I think he's saying in his post.

+1. I checked several places online (including ebay) for PellletVent Pro pipe and Dynamite Buys had the best prices I could find after I got the code from Sean. He was also very helpful making sure I got the parts I really needed. I've never seen PelletVent Pro at HD or Lowes just the standard PelletVent. The Pro pipe also has a o-ring in it, silicone I would guess.

Dynamite buys IS a good place for pipe. I would also recommend Eric at Kinsman Stoves....he's a member here, and will give discount to Hearth.com members. He's also a veteran.

Thats what I get. Weather stripping, insulation and maybe even install an OAK. I'd take care of the air infiltration problem as well as up grade the exhaust.

I guess my post was poorly written. While I do have a older drafty house, the problem I am describing is not a issue inside the house with smoke from the stove, or poor weatherstripping. It is due to the height of the termination and location in relation to my side door which is my main entrance. The natural flow of air in that area carry's the smoke from ther termination right into the side door. There is an unsiulated porch there which leads to our laundry/mud room. This area smells like smoke all winter. The smoke also makes it way into other areas as well. I am confident that going up 3' with the exhaust will elieviate some of the smoke infiltration. Does this make any sense? As for a OAK my dealer insists that i do not need it. After being a member of this site for so long I know i do. I have the Oak ready to install, just waiting for the time.

I know alot of installations need at least 2-3 foot of extention from the side of home. I went short on a temporary install of my bixby and had a host of problems and added more pipe and they went away. Good luck
