Just wondering if anyone can shed any light on how far up from the bottom of the burnpot my level of pellets should be. Does there need to be a good amount or try to keep it close to the bottom?
One more thing - has anyone taken the temp of their outer casing of vent pipe as it enters the thimble thru the wall? I'm only used to a wood burning stove's 6 or 8 inch insulated selkirk chimney and thimble.

IIRC, the pellets spread evenly over the bottom of the burn pot liner.
They don't stack up more than 1 or 2 layers when running stable (1-2 hour steady burn).

You want to burn as few pellets as you need to for the heat you want.
Adjust the damper for the best active flame pattern. No black tips on the flames.
You may have to tweek it to keep it burning clean.

Pellet quality is major factor here.
