Hey all, back from last winter and since i have moved my heatilator ps50 to the living area from the basement.
LAst night i got it all installed, started and running. Went to bed and turned the thermo down to shut it off. It worked perfectly fine last night. Now (actually 1.5hrs ago) i go to restart it, turn the thermo up ... and nothing. No fan turns on no lights no nothing. I go thru the manual and it really isnt that helpful but i have done the following:
-check the fuse.. its good
-reseated the control box
-snap disc three has this white button like thing, pressed that in and nothing .
checked for any wires burnt or broken and all good.
also tried a different thermo and still no go.
Anyone have any advise and any other ideas.
Lets just say i am very frustrated and thank god it isnt 20 degrees out.

Have you checked the wires on the back of the stove? Make sure the t -stat wires are tight.

Or better yet. Jumper that connection with a 6" piece of wire and eliminate the t-stat and a broken wire.

Have you tried plugging something into the outlet? Make sure there is power to it.

If there is no call light with the jumper and the outlet has power then we go from there.

But because it was moved, that means t-stat wire had to be moved or extended (added on to) and that is a good place for a bad connection.

I have the cab50 which I think is about the same as yours.

I'm assuming you have the slidy thermostat that came with it. When you slide it to 90 do you hear the "click" it normally makes?

Did you hit the reset button on back of the stove near the low/med/high switch?

The box on back of the stove where the termostat wire comes out of is kind of out in the open. Are the wires attached firmly ?

I have checked the wires connected and they are tight. I also trimmed 2 inches of to get a frsh start. Ive checked my cell phone on the outlet for power and there is power. I get no call lights. I dont know what else to check or do that would make this not respond

i aslo hooked up my furnace thermo to see if the supplied sliding thermo wasnt working. Between the 2 of the thermos it still doesnt turn on.. Also why would it work at night then 20 hrs later without even touching it it fails to respond?

I believe I saw a fuse near my control box in the stove. Do you?

Did you jumper at the box on the stove? If the line is bad somewhere before the thermostat then no stat will work.

there is a fuse. Im just afraid if i jump it i may fry the board. HOw woud i jump the fuse to see if thats the I already checked the fuse too adn it looks fine..

Try just a jumper wire. Disconnect the t-stat all together.

If you have a broken wire it wont get a signal. No matter how many t-stats you try.

Get a 6" piece of wire and strip the ends. Remove t-stat wires and put the 6" piece from terminal to terminal.

This eliminates a broken wire. (Easy fix)

No. Unplug the unit and pull the fuse to see if it is blown. Pull the fuse out and physically look at it. Is it "burnt" looking? You're not jumping the fuse.

The jumper was in reference to what DD said above concerning the thermostat. These stats are basically on/off switches. Look on the back of the stove and you should see 2 wires coming out the back on a little block (my cab50 does). Those are what run to your stat. If you use a jumper there and stove works then you know you have an issue down stream (bad wire/cut wire etc...). If you jump it and get nothing then the isuue is back into the stove.

6. Fuse
The fuse is located on the side of the junction box above to the red call light. The fuse will blow should a short occur and shut off power to the appliance.

I have no power to anything. Does this unit have a circuit breaker or fuse or a reset button?
This unit has one serviceable fuse in the junction box and a reset button for the thermostat circuit.

Did you hit the reset button on back of the stove near the h/m/l toggle switch?
Do you have a surge protector? Is it tripped stopping power to the stove?

jumped the tstat box ad still no go. Fuse is clear, wire is still connected inside, no burn. I have the lmh switch for the fan and tstat reset button. Rechecked the connections adn still nothing. I have it plugged directly to the outlet. No surge protector

Bad times.

I'm out of ideas. Sorry. Call your dealer and have him check it out.

One thing I'd do is to replace the fuse any way. Maybe you get lucky and it's blown but you can't see it...

well an update . i called a dealer in NH since mine is closed today..figures. I went thru the fuse and such and told him i had no response on anything. Told me to take out the control box and smell it and does have that burn smell. There isa small transformer inside that is coated in a pale yellow coating. Well half is plae yellow and the other is a yellow like caramel color. Thinks the box is gone. Awesome. Less than a year and this box goes. NOw i gotta get ahold of my dealer and see how i get this fixed...ugghh

The tech actually said this isa problem with these. He sees the CB frying all the time

Invest in a good surge protector.

Electrical components should have a 1 yr warranty.

How long is your t-stat wire? Prior to putting in the new computer remove the t-stat wire and use a jumper. I had a brand new CAB-50 burn up a computer on the first run. I put in the new computer and started it up and heard some noise from the computer I never heard before, with NINJA like speed I unplugged the unit. I removed the t-stat and run a jumper wire. Ran great. I installed a new t-state and wire and it still ran great. I am blaming the t-stat and t-stat wire.

t stat wire is about 9 or feet i guess. Why jump it first when the new box goes in? yea i think the surge is now a def need i like the plug in one

cause if the issue is the t-stat or the wire you will burn up another box.
