I needed to replace the Harman TL300 combustion chamber so I ordered a new one, and today I decided to install it. My problem is when I set it in place it sticks out of the back of the stove about a quarter of an inch. My question is do I need to just put the back plate on and slowly tighten all the bolts down to squish the gasket? I am afraid to break the fragile body of the combustion chamber. Or do is there another problem that I need to adress? I called the harman dealer where I got the stove and they had no idea, they have never replaced one before. I called the online store (woodmanspartsplus.com) where I bought the combustion chamber and they do not have a tech department, they just sell parts. Please help i need to get my stove up and running.

Folks on here may have experience but calling the manufacturer may be the best bet!

Harman doesnt give out their phone number to consumers, they tell you for tech support to contact the dealer where you bought the stove, which I did and they where no help.

There are a few Harmon owners on here. Someone will point you in the right direction.

When I did this it was made to push in using the back plate to seal it around the front. Be careful when you do it those suckers are really fragile and break very easy.

I had the same problem with my Oakwood a few months ago. I contacted Harman via email from their website and was told, yes, the newer ones are made to extend out a bit and they will compress into place (the old ones fit right in with no problem):

When installing combustion package it may extend beyond the back of the Oakwood by ¼” – 3/8”. This should compress when you put the back of the stove on.

When putting the back on, I could barely get the threads to a point where I felt comfortable the back was secure and the gasket was making a good seal. I am not happy putting in a new part that clearly does not seem to fit, but the stove seems to be burning fine. I guess I won't really know until the weather gets cold and I do some long burns.

Someone else on the forum had the same problem last year, but I did a search and couldn't find the thread.

Best of luck.

Did you get the Harman Stove Firedome Plus Combustion Package, part #3-40-358110, the Harman Ceramic Fiber Afterburner, part # 3-40-05171 or the Firedome Combustion Package 3-40-06999? The original part number was 3-40-06999 for the TL-300. I am guessing since the part was a little bigger than the original you may have put in the Plus package. If so please report how this one performs compared to your last one.

I used the Firedome Combustion Package 3-40-06999. Will The other part numbers above fit my stove? I checked they are about half the price of the one I just installed!

How many years did you get out of the original package jeepinman9?
