So Cent ALASKA
I've never had so much CSS wood.
After joining this site & burning 2 year+ seasoned dry wood,
I formed a plan to get ahead. (Burning dry wood is amazing)
I've almost reached the goal. 48' X 8' (5 rows deep) wood shed)
Next year it should be totally full of birch
12/13 wood: 5-1/2 cords (middle shed) might be a little short but the 13/14 wood can make it up if needed.
13/14 wood: 6-1/8 cords in the shed (left side)
14/15 wood: 7 cord. 5 in the shed, 2 in the seasoning stack
15/16 wood: 5 cord in the seasoning stack, (need 2 more to be done)
Then I only need to cut 7 cord of wood each year , to stay caught up.

Hey Dave, so if you get far enough ahead would you quit cutting? Would you skip that easy ( I know Alaska may not be) score? I doubt it! Personally I enjoy being outside and doing all the c/s/s. Your right tho, good dry seasoned wood is soooo much better to burn.
You've got a good plan with some of the nicest stacks on here, zap is in the running as well but zap has no moose antlers. Lol...:)

I have so many of my own improvements to work on that if you give me 3 or 4 years maby i'll think of one for ya !
I see your one-wheeled dump truck there, never found one of them that fit my hands very well. ;lol
Looks great Dave. 46 deg our high today and plenty of rain...

Nice job Bogydave. I always thought that when I was ahead a few years that break from cutting would come, the woods seems to draw you back.

Leave Alaska in the summer ?
Thanks for the offer though :)

wishlist:
what's "far enough ahead" ? ? :) LOL
Still/always looking for wood, ;)
It would be hard to pass up a scrounge, most of them are easier than the cutting area.

Just curious but how much of your 'free' time do you think you spend on your hobby / obsession !!! . I think i am currently on a couple of hrs a day more at weekends but less in the week so average 2hrs.

Very impressive sir. At first look I missed those outside stacks wow that a wall of wood there!

Very impressive! I like how you have posted on the shed the years in which you will burn the wood!

Good plan, how may cords did you burn before you learned to season your wood proper? I only wish some of the people who poke fun at me for having 10+ cords stacked and being at least three years ahead could understand.

LOL ;lol
Haven't admitted it yet. I don't keep it hidden like some under tarps & rubber roofing.
I as least "flaunt it" LOL :)

When it gets real bad, I'll seek help.
I'm burning mine, that helps some ;)

I hear Zap & Steeltown are on the road to recovery LOL :)

Thats a shat load of wood, you catch up to Dennis?

Dennis is still burning "antique" wood. (wood over 25 years CSS) LOL
I'll never catch him.

Very impressive! I like how you have posted on the shed the years in which you will burn the wood!
Thanks
So when I forget which section is for what year. Will be all birch soon, will all look the same ;)

What free time? Being retired, getting wood is one of my jobs now.
About 3 weeks to CSS the 6 - 7 cord stack out back seasoning.
Scrounges when they pop up. I'd guess 5 weeks +/- total this year.

Awesome display of wood Dave! It looks like you have the situation well under control!

Awesome job, Dave. That is a really impressive stash!

Thanks ditch

9 - 10 cord, now drier wood & a catalytic wood stove 5-1/2 to 6-1/2 cord.

Don't expect those without the addiction to understand, we here know.
We see: hard work, good fun outdoor exercise, $$, BTUs, others just see a big pile of wood ;)
Knowing with or without the grid or the oil companies, we'll keep our families warm :)

Thanks.
Getting to this point was lots of work, fun work for me though.
Almost got it to the point I planned on, never knowing what that would look like all stacked up.
Few tweaks here & there & seeing a wood shed stuffed full will be nice.
Like most here, I get a warm feeling when looking out the window ;)

But sill feel the need for more wood LOL :)

I get a warm feeling looking at your pictures! Never Enough!

Absolutely Breathtaking... Beautiful pics Dave.

That is work that is well rewarded :) (2 yrs later ;))

Good job Dave
In a couple of months you will need to go through all of your stacks and pull out all the irregulars and uglies and replace them with perfectly straight and perfect length splits.....so you will have to make one more trip to the cutting fields to look for that one illusive perfect straight birch tree that you can cut and split for replacement purposes. That is a must for all serious wood stackers :):)
