It's official!

I just ordered my first pellet stove tonight and I'm already dreaming of the heat and reduced visits from the oil guy.

I bought a Timber Ridge 55-TRP22. Those who own one please feel free to share your thoughts and this for getting this baby up and running quickly.

Now the most talked about question... which pellet to use. Currently thinking of buying a ton of Maine MWP from HD and a ton of Fireside Ultra both for $197/ton.

I'm also in the process of making DIY hearth pad with tiles.

More updates to come and pics to follow.

Looking forward to the install pics. Just did my first burn tonight in the same stove. Did you order the pipe kit for this? Also, are you doing a straight on install or a corner install? And, are you venting straight out through the wall or do you have an existing chimney you'll be using? In my situation, I did a corner install through the wall. Had a bit of an issue with the placement of the stud. So, definitely check that to make sure you have proper clearances. Also, if you're doing a corner install, and you bought the pipe kit, you'll at least need a 45 degree pipe to get out. I also ended up needing a 6" piece as well due to the stud problem. You may be tempted to get an adjustable piece. According to MIke from Englander, those are not rated for horizontal use nor are they rated to be used going through a wall thimble.

Also, have you checked on local building codes or with your home owners insurance? Building codes vary from place to place. IMHO, best to do it by the book because if something were to happen, you're covered somewhat. If not, your insurance probably won't pay.

Good luck.

All building codes and insurance questions have been covered. Basically a $30 permit and inspection.

I am planning a corner install and will need to purchase the additional 45d pipe for the the vent. I will be install the clean out and vertical pipe on the inside of the wall with the vent going through the wall at appx. eye level. The vent will be going out onto my drive way side of my house and I want the pipe as high as i can so nothing will get injured or hit by it.

Congrats on the new stove....looking forward to the install & burning pics.

And it's nice to keep as much of the pipe inside vertically speaking - that way you grab more of the heat before it exits.
Just hit my pipe with the IR gun at the 90 before it exits and it was 140F - thats while the 25-PDVC is at the #2 heat setting.
I don't know 5-6Ft of vertical pipe radiating heat makes me feel better.
Plus like you said - on the exterior less chance of the pipe getting whacked.

No need for a 45° if your using Simpson. It can interlock in 45° increments.

True. With mine, I went through the wall thimble at the same level as the exhaust exit on the back of the stove. And, I put the clean out T on the outside of the house. If the OP is going to keep the clean out T and 90 on the inside, then no need for the 45.

Need to order pellets soooon.... need your help!!

Green Supreme @ $209 (3 tons for free delivery) = Lowes
Fireside Ultra @ $197 $65 delivery charge up to 5 pallets. = HD
Maine Premium Pellet Fuel @ $197 plus $65 delivery charge up to 5 pallets = HD

Which direction would you go? Need to order this weekend.

None of the above!

Before you buy 2 tons of any one brand - you may want to buy a few bags of different brands - see if the stove burns one better than the other. Most likely you wont be able to tell the difference - so in my book price is super important. Better yet if you want 2 tons then buy 1 ton of brand x and 1 ton of brand y.

I believe the Maine Premium Pellet Fuel you referred to are MWP. I would take them over the GS and FU's any day.

Congrats on the new stove.
