The other month I had my P38 cleaned by the installing company. When they fired it up the blower was dead much to my shock.

The fan was running fine the end of last season. He did happen to have another on his truck and was able to do a quick switch (versus me having to pay an additional $75 or so for them to come back out in addition to the cost for the part)

My gut feeling is that this is potentially one of the pieces that can potentially fail. After about 4 seasons of use, it does seem a little early to me.

I've had a bad/squeaky augur motor, that was replaced inside of the warranty window, as well as an issue with the air vents in the burnpot creating a flame that was too hot which created a hole between the pellet/augur tube and the burn bot. (also replaced under warranty)

So this was the first major repair my stove has needed that was outside of the warranty.
The guy mentioned that these usually fail slowly over time and people don't notice until one day they just sieze up and stop working. That being said after the installation when he turned it back on, I noticed a marked improvement in the amount of air flow.

If your talking the distribution blower you can pick one up at Grainger for around $80. If your handy at all it's a simple fix next time, 2 bolts, 2wires. All stoves break down sooner or later, some sooner than others, the P38 is a good stove.

Yea. I figured I could have gotten one for significantly less. But the fact that he had the back of the stove already all open and knew exactly were to hook it in - I figured it was easier that way. Next time I'll do it solo. A few wires and bolts isn't bad at all.

Mines been running for 8 years now even though I bought a matching spare motor 4 yrs ago at a motor shop. The new ( off the shelf unit ) ($50) uses 90 watts vs 75 on the original but supposedly it`s a bit stronger motor . So far it` s been in the box but there when the time comes.
