Jotul Oslo Fan Question

Does anyone have a fan for the Oslo?

My Oslo is in the basement, which is shaped like an L. The Oslo is in the smaller part of the basement and I was curious what people think of the add-on fan for the unit. Would like to get that warm air moving out of the smaller section of the basement to the larger open area that is adjacent.
 
To get my prejudices out of the way, I have always been a big opponent of circulating fans in connection with wood heat. They work not at all during power outages, they are noisy, inefficient, and a general nuisance. Then I saw the Oslo fan in operation. It is incredible - moves lots of air, is almost dead quiet, and the stove works just fine without it.

However, it is going to have only a minimal effect on moving air from one section to another. There are many threads on this forum that discuss ways and means, failures and successes in circulating heat. They will give you a lot of ideas.
 
Put a table or box fan in the larger room, placed on the floor, pointing toward the woodstove room. Run it on low speed. It will blow the cooler air down low, toward the woodstove. The denser cool air will be replaced with lighter warm air from the stove room. Running this way you should notice at least a 5F increase in the larger room temp after about 30 minutes running.
 
Thank you Jotul8e2, appreciate the advice specific to the Jotul fan. I have an outlet very near the stove so adding the fan would be very easy. I like that it would be quiet and that it does help, to me that makes it worth it.
 
I might try BeGreen's suggestion first . . . a very simple and cheap solution if it works . . . in my own case this is how I move the heat from my living room to the rest of the home. I asked about the Oslo fan when I purchased the F-500 and the dealer said most folks don't purchase it, but if I wanted to add it later it was simple enough to install. Four or so years in and I don't feel the need for the fan since my $15 fan is doing a fine job of moving the heat.
