Well after weeks of research and many trips to the hearth stores I think I'm gonna do a Harman stove. I have a 1300sqft two level built in 1928. Newer windows and ok insulation.

I started my venture thinking I could get bigbox box store brand for $1500 but after talking to few people and reputable store owners on this forum I have decided against it. Noise levels reputation, maintenance and looks are some main reasons.

I am debating on the Harman Accentra and the P43. Any thoughts or things I should know about them? The boss likes the Accentra for the looks and of coarse it's the more expensive. lol.

Go to the showroom, see them burning, see the start up mode, max heat mode, pellet hopper size, ease of cleaning, noise, years in business, parts in stock, warranty service in home, etc.. I have a Harman P38+, like the P43 without controls, 2 years old.. it's not the quietest stove on the market by far, however it will burn almost any grade pellet and easy cleaning. Good luck..

The P43 is basically a P38 with auto ignition. My P38 seems bullet proof. It`s an extremeley dependable stove that`s built like a tank and doesn`t require fiddling with controls or a damper. The exhaust sensor automatically and accurately monitors and controls the burn. The glass stays reasonably clean for weeks and it can go weeks between cleanings. For a small stove they aren`t cheap , but you made an excellent choice. Personally I think it looks like a black toilet bowl but if you can get past that it will put out the heat you need.

2nd year with the P68. Nothing but good to say about it. I clean it once a week just because. Run mine in Room/Auto 24/7. Set it and forget about it. Well, do have to add pettlets. This time of year I run it off a 7 day programmable thermostat and set it back during the night and day while no one is home. Once it gets real cold out I do not set it back. You are going love the stove. I too did much research and always came back the Harman. Beauty is more than skin deep.

I love my P-43! Set it and forget it as mentioned above. Burns any pellet and heats my house nicely. Any noise you will get used to after a couple of weeks. The trim kits add a bit of style too if the looks bother you that much. At first I didn't really care for the looks but I have grown to really like the looks now. My P-43 saves me about $1300 a year in heating costs plus the house is warmer!

You only spent weeks to find the right stove?. Lucy. The progress in stove tech is great, as long it is still consumer repairable. I hope my Harmans will be my last stove upgrade. I think your choice will serve you well.

Just remember that the selling dealer is the most important part of buying a stove. Harman will give you zero help on the factory level if you have any questions or problems... it's all up to the selling dealer. If you have a stove problem, and his service sucks, then you have no alternatives than to go it alone. If he goes belly up so does your warranty. To be fair, most stove companies are the same but it's a shame the industry "leader", that sells the most expensive stoves, is the biggest offender.

I've heard others say this too, but the MSRP for a Mt. Vernon AE is $3999 and the MSRP for a P-68, the most expensive Harman, is $3879.

I just got some help on a ? I had with my Harman pc 45 thru their site yesterday on the correct dip switch settings. Maybe they are getting the message?

I hope so.. Awhile ago, someone had a P38 that wouldn't run correctly, dealer tried multiple times to repair it, Harman referred them back to dealer, after an ordeal, the owner had to post on Harman's Facebook page about the stove. THAT got Harman's attention...

X 2----To Harman you are just some fool that bought their stove.I had a great dealer until they closed .So the closest dealer is now about 100 miles away. With that said my P38 has been a great stove...since 2006

All great advice on here. These folks won't steer you wrong. I've had my P68 going on 4 years now. I have a modest Cape Cod home and it heats us up nicely. Like others have said, feed it and forget it. A little noisy, yep, now I am so used to it I don't notice it. I've gone through an igniter and a control board (all covered under warranty). I'm also saving roughly $1400.00 a year NOT buying propane. I went with the biggest Harman and I am glad I did. I haven't heard many people complaining they bought to big a stove. Bottom line I really really really like my stove. Good luck.

We also have a Cape. 24x32 P61 in living room. Saving about $900 this year(oil). 1 igniter and 1 controller board here also.
Love the stove. A real workhorse! As stated above, having a dealer that will work with you is very important.
