has anyone done it? is there a "kit" that is available?
is it better to have the coil in the fire box or on the outside?

i have done a little searching but time is a little short. i have solar assisted DHW but would like to help it in the winter months with the pellet furnace. any good sights to do some searching? information?

hope this thread strikes some interest. my " pics of my traeger install" didnt do so well.

thanks in advance .

jim

Jim there are pellet boilers that can be used to provide DHW and there is a system that some have used on certain pellet stoves. As for a hot air furnace I can't say.

What happened on your install?

There is a kit for the pellet stoves called a crosslink. Some have frowned on it here. Not sure it has passed any of the specific certifications like UL.
There was also a home built kit(again for pellet stove) on here a couple a season ago. There are a few here with Harman PB105's that are using them to heat and DHW.

I don't think there is a stand alone or an add on for your furnace. Contact Traeger, They might have some leads for you. Or many something you can add on(just a wild guess). They do make pellet boilers as well. Keep us posted if you find something?

i will call traeger about it. i see they have a kit for there GBU 130. king of pricy for all that it is. TP valve small pump and some copper fittings for $600 and im sure it all came from the grainger catalog..

i have seen the crosslink on you tube. not sure thats what im looking for.
something more on the lines of a water coil. just not sure what im looking for. kind of hoping for someone that has done it. pics, ideas that kind of thing.

worried about what happens to the water when the power goes out and it turns to steam in the coil. would not want to only have a PT valve to rely on. not something i want to do half assed. plenty can go wrong.
thanks for replying
