Hey Folks,

New 7100 owner/operator here....love it. Have one issue though, so far Im truely unimpresssed by the air output from the cage fan. I think back to the days of my grandfathers fireplace, where he had rigged some copper tubes that went under behind and over the top of the box with an inline fan and that thing blew some air. This 7100, even on high seems to hardly move air at all. Is it possible to wire the cage fan backwards? (Please stop me quickly if thats a dumb question...) I've been thinking through the possibilities and Im hoping there is a fix. I'd hate to have to rig my own blower setup on such an expensive fireplace.

Please help if you have any advice.

Sean unfortunately the 7100 fans do not move a high volume of air, mine operates the same way. Even with the fans set to high you can barely feel the air blowing just a few feet in front of the unit.

True, the fan doesnt move a lot of air. As I understand it the 7100 heats primarily by radient heat. In additionn to the blower and a ceiling fan I place a small box fan 6-8feet to one side of the doors to move air past the front of the unit, makes quite a difference IMO.

The fascia restricts a lot of the air the fans can move. I have a Mission HIll fascia and removed it to see how they perform. There was a huge difference. If it wasn't so unsightly without it I would leave it off. (Oh and the rib said "not a chance" when I made the suggestion.)

The MIssion Hill fascia has metal screens for the intake and output. Removing those is an idea. Can anyone with the Valley Forge fascia tell me if there is screen material in the intake and output areas?

I have the Valley Forge fascia and it does not have screens built into it.
